until then, they won't be a legit sport. you have to be able to enforce the rules you set out... and the UFC doesn't, never has, and maybe never will.

Well silly boy, its called taking a point.
Taking money is a cute gimmick, but taking a point works out better.

The UFC doesn't handle the reffing. They don't just hire whoever they want and make the refs do things. Why do you think you saw "UFC" refs at the Pride PPV in the states? O_O

Oh i know they dont personally hire them, ive seen Mazzagatti ref a K1 fight (i think it was). What i was saying is THIS specific UFC PPV has the worst reffing overall. The Yves with the knee to the head, Silva's (IMO) illigal elbows and the low blow that was told to carry on 0_o.

Im also seeing clinches broke up WAY too soon, and ground game broke up too soon. It seems to be if the favourite fighter likes to stand, a clinch or ground game gets broke up for the fight to stand up. Even Joe stated this on the last UFN, wondering why it wasnt allowed on the floor longer as the fighter WAS working. BJJ isnt about GnP, its inches that make the submission, it make take 2 mins but it works, but after 30 seconds or less its stood up. Its getting annoying.

Yeah, You're right. I just hate it when people trash talk the UFC for the refs.
I wonder what the qualifications are???

also, I think it should be harder to be a ref, they should hire some new ones, annnnnd some sort of classes? tests?

Big John should train them all
Ive seen Dean do a few bad decisions, so i kinda now expect it from him, but it seems now they ref for the fans (maybe as MMA is going mainstream) rather than for the fight. Just a year ago fights could go near enough a whole round on the floor without much GnP or decent submission, just 2 people working for a better position. Now if you havent got a mount/side control or GnP withing a minuite your standing up again. Its the same with fence work, they used to let it got for a min or 2 if there were elbows and atleast a effort to gain a better grip to get a takedown, but not now.

Or is this just me.
