I keep watching the fight and i cant see Chael going to sleep at any moment. You also see Chael struggling to get the arm. I hate to say it because its an absurd statement but Chael has no idea why he tapped.
IMO his body never went completely out, but I think he blacked out for a split second. When the ref steps in I seem to remember Chael with an expression of where the **** am I. But it's been a bit since I watched the fight.

He didn't tap just to tap, I cab promise that. I think it was the triangle combined with extreme fatigue and tunnel vision. There's been workouts where I'm a zombie and can barely remember anything other than what I'm looking at. I imagine Chael was only out for a split second. That combined with his fatigue made him feel like he was completely black. You can see when he snaps back to reality after the fight.

You seem to completely have misread my post.
I never said he tapped just to tap. From my first post i made it clear that i think Chael tapped from the arm bar and not the triangle. That is where the pain came from and much more likely reason that he would tap because with the escape he did he was practically out of the triangle.
You can clearly see him grabbing his arm where it is being bent. He didnt tap from the triangle that he escaped.
Also.. look at the amount of room he has at the back of the head once he attempts his reverse. There is no way that triangle did much except possibly made him a little woozy. This is a clear and cut case of what made him tap. The move Silva used isnt anything new and is common when someone does what Chael did.

Somebody else that sees everything. Good to see. It wasn't the triangle that submitted Sonnen.
It was definitely the arm bar that finished him, but he himself said that he was blacked out from the trianlge, even though it looked to me like he tried the right escape, just maybe a second too late.
He was taking elbows from the bottom, used one arm to wipe the blood off his brow dripping in to his eye, he let his sub defense down, arm wide open. Silva slips on a finisher first controlling the arm, then silva throws that leg over. BAM BAM BAM, the power of submissions.
If I remember the multiple angles he tried to get out with his free arm, then two real taps as he was fading into the darkness. 'Sonnen didn't tap' proclaimers need to grow up, go watch the fight again. Go watch all the previous non-taps Sonnen has had over his career, a few are probably very similar to Silva's.
I noticed that he said that too but its literally impossible for it to have been the case.
Its clear from watching the fight that he did not go to sleep. I think he himself doesnt really know what happened but i can guarantee it was the arm bar that made him tap. If he was asleep how did he tap?
These two clowns are so giddy that BJJ won the fight they sound like two used car salesmen.

Survival instinct brought on by semi-consciousness and the feeling that his elbow might pop.
He is prone to submission because he doesnt stand with guys alot.
The way he fights wrestling and non stop GnP even if it isnt devastating makes his limbs easier to grab aswell as making him tired.
Im pretty sure he knows how to escape , just when you're tired the plans go out the window. Most of the guys he has lost to are pretty good at submissions anyway.
Horn - 57 sub wins
Maia
Silva - BB trains with big Nog has 5 subs
Filho
Sobral
Griffin and Prangley are decent at JJ but he faced them when he was younger.
of course he knows how to escape these subs, the problem is the guys subbing him are just too good, getting subbed by maia proves nothing about how good your sub defense is
sonnen used the correct technique to get out of the triangle, silva STILL subbed him though because of his freakishly long legs, sonnen did everything right that fight, any1 else in his position still would have been subbed...the problem is he didnt see the sub coming...but how many fighters would? tired in the 5th round about to become champion and the other fighter has pretty much given up...not many fighters would expect a triangle at that point
but still...sonnen did everything he had to do correctly to win...and still lost, thats why the rematch is pretty point less...he cant improve on anything to beat AS
