YA, and we all know how well that worked out for BJ. He got his ass kicked.

This. giving him a tune up fight makes no sense from a business point of view.

If BJ can move up from LW to WW and get 2 immediate title shots why wouldn't GSP?

I'd say GSP deserves an immediate title shot IF he moves up to MW.

I personally don't think GSP will move up to MW. He really doesn't seem too motivated to do it and says it would be a big transformation since he would have to put on muscle and the move would be permanent. Even if he puts on weight he would still be a smaller MW and would likely not be able to be as dominant of a wrestler hence he would not do as good in the weight class.

Guys like Franklin, Belcher, Okami and Silva are all HUGE MW's who cut a lot of weight to get to 185.

GSP's home is WW.

It would suck if they put him against Silva immediately only to find out GSP's cardio is awful or something like that. They should give him anyone but Okami or Sonnen since he wouldn't stand a chance against those two.
LOL. ya right. This is GSP you are talking about. I think GSP could beat every middle weight right now without even putting on weight. I also bet he could beat most of the LHW's without putting on weight. There's even some HW's that I think GSP would beat right now. The 15-25 pound difference at middle weight isn't enough for people at middle weight to beat GSP imo.

Positives vs Negatives

Shields and Anderson both got a tester before fighting for the belts. It's obvious to see where they stand in the pecking order. Can they hold up. Technically GSP should, but he is in the P4P top 3 and current WW champ. BJ got an immediate challenge, but he was already once a WW champ.

The only downside is "IF" GSP loses in a "test fight" then the whole SUPER FIGHT matchup goes down the toilet. That fight would probably be the all time highest selling PPV and gate in UFC history.

So I voted YES he should have an immediate title fight. Anderson Silva can't wait forever. He's got two more; Vitor and Okami then GSP as the final test. Then Anderson moves up and gets the immediate title shot at LHW unless Machida regains it. Another fight we all want to see if Anderson Silva vs Shogun. What a war that will be!

No question GSP fights for the title.

The conversation always starts with a superfight against Anderson Silva.

GSP then says if he goes up he wants to stay up; but he's still fighting AS first.

They could fight at a catchweight but does anyone really want that fight to only be 3 rounds?

That means it's a title fight.

I wanna see him move up too, but no one in this thread should kid themselves; he will be the smallest MW in the division.

Oh and I voted for tune up fight, but it all depends. If he plans to move up permanently I say give him a tune up. If it is a temporary move and he plans to defend his WW title then give him and immediate shitle tot.
