Goldberg is there just because of his voice and his ability to read a telepromter. He is the shill man for the next UFC event. He'll even shill during the action which can be annoying. Good thing Rogan is there to balance him out

I don't mind Goldbergs commentating. You have Randy and Rogan to provide us with the information about the fight and techniques etc.

I'm not too ken on Goldberg's commentating, but I wouldn't let him go until I know there is someone better. I don't think Randy and Joe alone would work, and now that's not even possible for some events, since Randy is coming out of retirement. Joe Rogan is the best of the three--he has that elusive combination of vocal prowess and MMA knowledge. He's kind of like putting Randy's knowledge with Goldberg's voice. My biggest complaint with Goldberg is that he seems to use a lot of crutch words and phrases like "so you want to be ultimate fighter?" and "war of attrition." He also uses the word "moniker" a lot, but oftentimes incorrectly. I think the UFC is getting to the point where they should sign Goldberg to an exclusive contract and have him study up on MMA a little. I doubt he would cost that much. I've only seen doing beach volleyball and college football on cable.

Goldber was hired cause he has the "commentator" voice. those annoying inflections that all sportscasters must master to get jobs...

personally, i like listenin to regular guys who love the sport, talk about what's going on. that's why Bas and Quadros where the best... just two guys who are in love with MMA. at least Rogan loves the sport... they shouldn't have Randy fight anymore, and have him commentate fulltime with Rogan!

whiskey, racism, money, grease, twinkie's, guns.....yep lol thats about it

My husband and I crack up at that every time! He is a wierd guy and I agree that he a Rogan actually make a good match. I can't stand it when Joe's not there. And I like Randy commentating, but he is so soft spoken, he's hard to hear-he needs an extra strong mic.

i agree goldberg does have a commentator voice. i also think that he makes the fights exciting at times. his lack of knowledge makes rogan look like a genius. i know goldberg lacks knowledge but for some reason he is enjoyable to listen to.

one thing that i am very tired of hearing from him is at the end of a fight that is a knockout or submission he will sat and its ALLLLLLLLLLLLL over in this repititious voice- thats the only thing i dont like about him

Quadros is really not that good of a commentator. He is way too pretentious for his own good. He usually says the most baseless stuff, and he was lucky he had Bas there with him. Bas has enough charisma to click with anyone. Hell, he made Maurice Smith sound somewhat good on commentary during the Royce vs Saku fight. Quadros spends so much time telling people that he knows the fighters, and not enough time trying to explain what's going on in there.

Why can't they hire someone who's good at talking and knows his shit? it ain't too hard, hell bas rutten and Mauro ranallo know what they are talking about. Bas has the experience and knowledge, whereas Mauro speaks well and doesn't pull stuff out like Goldberg does.

I don't think its too hard nor is it too much to ask for a commentator to know what he's talking about. Bas and Maruo both know what they are talking about and they never really have any conflicting statements over one another, its called an opinion. Different opinions are always great so long as you know what you're talking about as long as you're not pulling stuff outta your ass. Goldberg does just that. I find it hard to believe that in a country with over 200 million people, you can't find someone who has good vocal skills and knows what he's talking about.

I wouldn't mind so much that he didn't know what he was talking about if it weren't for the fact that he's trying to make these comments that are just so stupid, its unbelievable. "uh....no, not michael jordon? tim hardaway? vince carter? your mother?" You'd think after all this time the guy would finally pick up some knowledge from all those fights or at least do some homework watching videos at home, but still everyday the guy goes to work just winging the material, hoping that he'll get away with it again.

i guess it's a matter of taste... but if anything, the charisma between bas and quadros made whatever commentating, very exciting. it was like watching the PPV with two of your buddies who know as much about MMA as you do. plus, it was listening to Bas and SQ--though mostly bas--that i learned MMA. I actually started watching MMA through PRIDE, so i guess i just have an affinity for the original announcing team!

actually, and i've said this a lot before... the announcing team for Bodogfight was supurb! they where very very knowledgable and had a good chemistry about them!
