We would probably be having a new middleweight champ right now. To me, Silva did not look as invulnerable as I thought he was, and I was very surprised at how easily he got taken down and mounted.

I agree. I just watched the fight again tonight and thought (IMO) if Lutter didn't go for that armbar and just avoided Silva's attempt to bring his legs up for a possible triangle or whatever, he would have probably ko'ed him. I saw the fight live and thought WTF are you doing going for that arm when you're raining down blows straight on Silva's face. When he first got the mount and started throwing those blows I was like "Damn, Silva's done for." So I still think if he kept throwing blows and avoided submission attempts the ref would have stopped it or he would have ko'ed Silva in the mount.

I also agree Silva lost the appearance that he's unbeatable.

vushvush has a little shameless behaviour in the past
You know how a pilot can have an enemy on their six? That doesn't mean the enemy is below him in guard! That means behind. Clocks aren't always on the wall.... have you ever strapped a watch to your hand? What kind of argument is that anyway!?!?!?

The elbows were clearly illegal, and whoever mentioned the "trucker horn motion" is 100% correct.

I don't think anyone is saying Lutter should have one or anything, it was just a matter of time. That being said, this thread should be more about the UFC getting their act together, starting by booting Herb Dean.

Why is everyone complaining about this but not a peep when MacDonald did the same thing to Herman a few months ago??

a watch is a watch, a clock is a clock. if you were a pilot you would know that the positioning on the clock is relative to the direction they are going, nowhere does it say that this rule is relative.

clearly illigal? how can you say this when the rule isn't even all that clear? Even Cotoure had no idea what the rule meant. there was a video posted on here earlier that shows exactly what the rule means, and it has been explained before by Big John.

Somehow i think you are to busy attacking Herb to think about this from all angles.

just a guess here...but maybe Herb Dean wasn't the ref

clearly illegal my ass. they aren't clearly legal or illegal because the rule is very unclear.

the reason they were legal is cause the ref said they were. so that should be the end of the discussion right there but everyone wants to build up some conspiracy.

THE REF CALLED THE ELBOWS LEGAL. SILVA WON. CASE CLOSED.
