You said you wanted to see them be tested before a title shot...In my opinion his fight with Karo was real test. But yeah, I would definitely not mind seeing Diego - Hughes. I think it'd be a good chess match (with brute force).

the ufc will want hughes vs GSP III. so either they set this up and then diego gets the winner, or diego fights kos and then gets hughes for the title shot.

Matt Hughes has a rematch clause in his contract. Diego is going to get a title shot. If one of them wins against GSP then that fight should go down. Then GSP probably has a rematch clause in his new contract. Either way will see.

Sanchez vs Hughes
Sanchez vs GSP
Hughes vs GSP III

Well beating Karo was a gateway for GSP to get a title shot (after first dismantling Heiron), and despite GSP being an undefeated big shot from TKO/UCC, he probably wasn't ready for Hughes. At least not mentally.

GSP then had to go through a gauntlet of great fighters to get a rematch (Penn, Sherk, Trigg, Miller, Strasser). By the time he made it back to the title he was ready and he dominated.

I guess I'm saying Sanchez hasn't paid his dues and needs a big test before fighting for the title. As we saw with Georges, maybe Karo isn't a good indicator. And I know someone will say that Georges was winning the first round with Hughes before getting caught but Georges attributed his loss to mental unpreparedness, so there you go.

Even Diego says he wants to fight Hughes before GSP, though I doubt he would turn down a shot at the title if offered it today (with the appropriate pay-out). A few decision wins, knocking out Riggs, and a narrow decision over Parisyan is nice on a resume but I don't know that it is proof he should be a title holder.

i'm gonna re-do your order.

hughes GSP III
Sanchez GSP

and then maybe just for shits and giggles. Sanchez Hughes

i just think they'll set up the rubber match for hughes. when he loses (notice i didnt say if) sanchez will be the #1 contender.

and when GSP wins that (again, no if) i'm not real sure if there would be a purpose in a sanchez hughes fight, but it would be a quality match up so i could see it happening.

I can almost guarentee you Matt Hughes will be fighting George St. Pierre again, for several reasons. First, bigger draw. St. Pierre / Hughes III simpley markets better. Second, Dana White has already stated that the 3rd match between Rush and Hughes will take place in Montreal, to do two things - first, to increase the already growing fan base in Canada (MMA is HUGE in Ontario, Alberta and especially Quebec, and we have The Fight Network to help the marketing), and second, as a try run for an international show, since I fully expect Zuffa to stage a UFC show in England with 9 months to a year. The UFC will want the Canada show to be big (for the same reason the show in Ohio is big - new territory).

St. Pierre vs. Hughes III for the WW title is inevitable - unless Matt Serra has something to say about it.

he of course deserves a title shot, he is undefeated. if he wants to wait it out to get more money then thats fine too. he should beat koscheck, but we'll see. the gsp injury slows things down

I don't think that Diego can beat Hughes or St.Pierre? Matt Hughes will be too strong for him on the ground, and Georges St. Pierre will knock him out! His only chance against Hughes would be for him not to have a plan, again!, and stand with him. Maybe Diego will get lucky and knock him out.

LoL Diego has more wins than GSP.

I vote "yes". He's been fighting for a while now and has been undefeated so I imagine he's in line for the title shot. It would be interesting to see him fight Hughes first. But does Hughes want that? I don't think Diego is a pushover.

I'm always surprised how he seems to rub people the wrong way. Maybe I missed some interviews or something.
