i think he should fight matt hughes before he gets a title shot. i definitely do think he deserves a shot over hughes though

i was thinking about this more this afternoon and i came up with this:

who deserves a title shot more: hughes or diego?

why shouldn't hughes get the shot first? he was the most dominant champ in ufc history and has helped the ufc to the hieght its at today. i know diego is undefeated but does hughes deserve the rematch first for all he's done and how dominant he's been?

now i dont necessarily know how to answer this but i was gonna see what you all thought...discuss.

I personally think when a champ falls he should have to make way for the next guy in line, as far as title shots go. I'm not too fond of rubber matches, but I can understand the financial reasons behind them. I prefer them having to make their way back up by beating a few top contenders. Seems fair to me IMHO. Personally I think Diego should go first but I think he stated he wished to fight Hughes before GSP.

Most people on the internet disagree because they think once you lose to one of the top rated fighters in the world, suddenly you and your entire camp suck.

I'm sure if half the UFC fans on the internet saw CroCop lose to Fedor, they'd say he sucks, too.

Lightbulb

at first i thought that he should most definetly deserve a title shot because he looks very solid every time he goes out there. not to mention his confidence is out of this world but . . . . . .

i read some of the comments on this thread and agree with most people here that he is very close to a title shot but he needs a hughes , penn fight before he gets his belt shot.
