Title Shot Guaranteed?

Lutter was guaranteed a title shot for winning TUF. He didn't make weight and so it wasn't a title fight, does he still deserve the title shot that was guaranteed to him?

I think making the weight is part of the title shot.

i know technically and, possibly, legally he deserves the title shot, but in my opinion he had it. he's the one who lost it. failing to make weight was his fault.

I think that the "Title Shot" involves just that, A shot at winning the title. Including the making weight. The shot at the title would have begun with his training. If he hadn't of trained, it wasn't the UFC's fault. He did train. The next step would have been making weight. He didn't. That's not the UFC's fault either. The UFC had no control over the action of Travis Lutter. Further, if he could manipulate the rules to get a title shot like that, he could not make weight for months and months, until he finally felt he was ready and then take his shot when it's convinent for him.

You don't know who I am? You must be new.

I don't think Lutter is stupid enough to really press this issue. I hope not anyways.

It is an interesting dilemma though... has the UFC ever had a champion not make weight in a title fight? What happened? What would've happened if Silva didn't make weight?
