I'd love to see this fight happen, Randy can take the dude is awesome at gameplanning and I'm sure he'll find the perfect gameplan for Machida. The dude isn't the mystical, hard-to-figure-out guy everyone thought he was.

It will be a tough, close fight but Randy, if properly motivated can take this one and quite dominantly IMO.

Yes Toney wasn't an elite fighter, Yes Coleman wasn't an elite fighter, but fighters that still had a danger about them and Randy handled them like children. Vera was a very dangerous opponent for him but he took Vera's hardest shots and still came forward and looked great in doing it.

If this fight happens....Randy by UD.

Didn't he say in an interview not long ago that he was retired, but if he was to return it would have to be against either Machida or Shogun?

Guess that worked out for him

This match sounds good, two of my favorite guys battling it out

It's not, it can be a completely different guy. Beating Tito in 2003 and 2010 are two very different things.

2007 Machida would tool Randy. 2010 Machida would be controlled and decisioned quite handily by Randy. Machida's father has seen the change in him, Randy knows it too, that's why he's gunning for this fight now.
Judging by the rampage fight machida still has it, plus he is the same dude from 2007. He lost to shogun and rampage. People say the same thing about randy every time he fights someone. Difference is machida is not vera not even close. Randy is randy except way past his prime. He can't beat any elite fighter right now. Machida has became a smarter fighter from 2007. Plus if you break down the fight unless machida is a bum there is no way randy gets close unless machida lets him. Randy could have used his dirty boxing vs. lesnar, big nog but they won the stand up war. Now he is facing a guy who stand up is on a different level than anyone he has faced plus he has a huge speed advantage.

I know people love Randy, but he is fighting a top 5 LHW in a division that has guys who are far evolved from the fighters he used to fight. If your giving Randy a chance you might as well call for anderson silva, shogun, cain, next. Yes he did beat vera, but vera will likely be cut from the ufc soon. Plus vera would not be able to beat a top 5 lhw.

Machida should not be ranked above Jones. Machida's effectively on a 3 fight losing streak, and on the way down, whilst Jones is unbeaten in the UFC (ignoring the ludicrous DQ) and the most promising fighter in all of MMA. My rankings would go:

Shogun
Rashad
Rampage
Jones
Machida

Though the winner of Forrest/Franklin could legitimately move into the Top 5 with an impressive victory, especially if Forrest takes it, considering he already has wins over Rampage and Shogun, and won 2 and a half rounds against Rashad before getting sloppy. Say Forrest finishes Franklin, he'd definitely get into the Top 5 ahead of Machida for me.

Proudly Supporting
Dan Hardy
Conor McGregor
Joe Lauzon
Ronda Rousey
Chael Sonnen
Mark Hunt
Chris Weidman
Robbie Lawler

how does jones get a pass into the top 5 without facing none of them? Jones is sick but this hype is crazy, why is bader not in the top 5 he has beaten better competition is 12-0?
