rules which are allowed in Pride and isn't in the UFC
for which I could have been disqualified. But it was
all OK.
REPORTER: When you have knockdowned him, you were not
allowed hit him with legs?
MIRKO: I remembered that in time.I wanted to punch him with
knee, but...that is the rules I must accept and that's
not problem for me.The rules in Pride are easier for
my fighting style, but nevertheless.
REPORTER: Sanchez is fighter that had perfect score before
your fight, but in the fight he frequently went
back from you and he had some attempts to hit you,
but in the end you finished him routinly...in the
way you always fight.
MIRKO: Well yes...it was obvious he was bit affraid and he
constantly moved away from me so I needed to chase
him through the cage which is huge regarding to ring.
But it was one experience more for Sanchez.
REPORTER: The entry music wasn't Wild Boys but Prides
official music. Was that your decision or the

MIRKO: Well, the organizer couldn't affect on decison of my
entry music...that was my decision.

MIRKO: I like to hold some things to myself (smile).

organizer which is logiacal and we all saw
announcement of the fight Sylvia vs. Couture..we

MIRKO: Informal, it could be my third fight...eventualy
fourth with the winner of Sylvia - Couture fight.
REPORTER: We heard that your second fight might be in LOndon

MIRKO: This is not a speculation...it will be in Manchester.

MIRKO: No, I still don't know...
REPORTER: How did went your encounter with Croats in
America.
MIRKO: It was nice. The atmosphere is different because the
hall is much smaller than in Pride and the fans are
much louder. There was a lot of our people and it was
very nice.
REPORTER: The crowd in UFC can even boo if the fight is
boring or if fighters are not very active.
MIRKO: Well yes...that is american style....they don't
forgive anything
REPORTER: Did you meet with Croat fans after the fight
outside the complex?
MIRKO: No...i didn't go outside.We were there 2 days but I
didn't go mutch outside.
REPORTER: Did you talked to organizers after the
fight...they were surely happy. What they got,
exactly that was what they expected and wanted.
MIRKO: After the fight I retreat because I was quite tired
so I didn't talked to them mutch...In training proces
I was all in injuries which didn't affect on fight.
Last 20 days i had small injuries that were enough
to distracted my concentracion.Because of that this
was the most difficult match in my career...I really
had plenty of injuries...first my leg...it was even
option that I cancel the match....this recomended my
doctor, but for me that was not an option. It was
never that hard for me before the fight, not because
of the opponent, but because of that situation with
injuries.
REPORTER: This injuries...will it effect in your fortcoming
training?
MIRKO: No,no..I will recover in 10-12 days and than I start
with trainig for Manchester.

I love that last part where he said, "i didnt even know about it" lol someone at the UFC screwed up there! Good for him, great fight, great fighter, although I wonder how he is going to handle the USA. Its alot different then Pride. There is alot MORE pressure here. The media the hype the expectations. Professinals in every sport crack because of it in the US. He seems like a person who would not handle the spot light well, however ill give it to him his focus might be able to carry him through it all.

his wife has been interviewed,

source - http://ufcmania.com/

Quote:
Klaudija Filipović: ‘Mirko has promised he will retire in two years’

That’s the recent headline on Croatian news site Index.hr, which was translated thanks to one of our loyal readers, Loken.

If Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s promise to his wife is true, the heavyweight superstar would call it a career when his two-year, six fight contract with the UFC is satisfied.

This isn’t the first time that “Cro Cop” and “retirement” have been mentioned in the same space.

There have long been rumors that the PRIDE FC 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix tournament champion was considering retirement. Especially, in the wake of his loss to Mark Hunt in 2005.

Fortunately, these were just rumors.

At any rate, I just want to pass along the news. Hopefully, the 32-year-old will reconsider later on down the line — a possibilty his wife isn’t denying.

Here’s a translation of the entire article:

Wife our MMA master Klaudia Filipović in discussion with Index has given her comments of his husband fight and future plans.

Klaudia always watches her husband’s fights live, because she says, she always wants to know what has happened.

“Of course I am happy. Mirko has won, and besides that he didn’t get beaten too much, and than I am happiest. I always watch his fights live because simply I have to immediately know how he did.” – thinks wife of Mirko Filipović.

I never let my son to watch Mirko’s fight, because clearly he is too young but this fight was exception.

“I must admit that he never watches Mirko’s fights, but this time I have made an exception so he did watch the recording. I thought the fight wasn’t too ugly. He is still young so there is time for it” – said Mrs. Filipović

And last Klaudia Filipović has added: “Mirko has promised to me that he will stop fighting in two years. I sincerely hope for it, but you know how old saying goes: promises aren’t always kept, and only fools should take them as definite.
