You agree that Winner should have won the fight, but the judges focus so much emphasis on take down attempts and controlling against the cage that they deemed Lentz the winner.
This is not right.The judging of fights in the ufc has some serious holes and it needs to change.
When i think of some one holding another guy against the cage or holding them onto the ground, without advancing position, working sub attempts or working some GNP, it reminds me of a police officer holding some drunken idiot down.
He isnt fighting that man, he is restraining him, holding him. That isnt fighting, or mixed marital arts.
It isn't just the UFC, it is all of America. The UFC is just getting the guys assigned by the commmision.
And although Winner did more damage, he landed very few strikes because he wasn't able to. Lentz negated all of his offense sans two or three combinations per round, and took him down a few times, albeit brief, are always scored.
No doubt, at worst the rounds should've been scored 10-10, since neither fighter got in very much offense, but in the USA, that type of wrestling has more emphasis on scoring and I'm not sure if that will change in a long time.
