Why hate on the hype so much. It's a part of good business, the better UFC is doing, the better it is for the fans as well.
JBJ has been hyped up a lot, but there's a reason. I for one think he's going to be a monster in the LHW divison and believe he's going to hold on to the belt for a long time. I guess i'm buying his hype as well.

Why shouldn't Lyoto have been hyped? He barely got hit in any UFC fight until he fought Shogun, and he had a style we hadn't really see before. Not only that but he seemed impossible to take down, he threw Ortiz around like a rag doll. He also made Thiago Silva look like a complete amateur and Thiago is no joke.
He went to a very close decision with both Shogun and Rampage, and his only convincing loss might have been more a case of luck than superior skill on Shogun's part.
Machida didn't dominate the division like some thought he might, but who does at 205 these days? He's certainly a top 5, probably more a top 3 and has held the title. Not everyone will be an Anderson or a GSP - not Cain, not Shogun, and not Edgar. Aldo? Doubt it, but reality is Machida rose to the top like everyone thought he would. That's not being overhyped entirely, that's delivering on a high percentage of that hype.

Brock Lesnar was a huge product of the hype machine and when he got demolished by Cain it was quite the deflation of his status. I also feel that Machida suffers from this in my eyes. Due to the extreme hype behind him I was pulling for Shogun in the first fight. I wanted to see that hype dwindle. Now Machida who was touted for being underrated and has the infamous era quote, is on a slide. I'm asking you guys, how much do you buy into the hype? How long does it take for you to consider someone a legit contender and not just hype for ppv sales? Do you prefer to see a major hyped fighter win and live up to it or would you rather see them lose?
Also I don't mean anything negative agains the ufc for their hype machine. They are trying to sell their fighters as the best in the world and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just merely asking about it's impact on you guys

Don't get it. The UFC does hype certain guys. Guys like Leites, Hardy, Brock, are some examples.
I don't see how Machida was? They were doing everything in their power to not give him the shot. They wanted Rampage-Rashad...but Rampage was hurt and then the movie...
And not sure how they over-hype Jones. Was Vitor not hyped at an early age? Was GSP not? Is Overeem not hyped now? Jones has crushed everyone he has been given so far...beat down Vera and Hamill like they have never been beaten down before. If Jones was headlining big events I could see your point. But they have given him some main events on free cards, and he is the 3rd fight of the card coming up. They haven't shoved him to the top like they have others.
In my opinion, yea we all know about the UFC hype train. But Jones and Machida are poor examples to use.

Hype? What the hell is hype? Every example you used is working against your point. Machida went undefeated to capture the belt. Brock Lesnar captured the belt and defended it. Do you realize the feat to even become a champion in the UFC. Nowadays LHW and HW are the most rapidly changing champions. If Bones becomes the champion or even fights for the belt in THE BEST LHW division in the world he will not be a 'product of hype'.

JBJ im sorry to say will be the next brandon vera i fear, it has an eery resemblance to the vera hype days, i expect JBJ to be better than that though since he is at team jackson, however i do see him having a similar run to brandon
