That and at the time 155 didn't really exist so no one fought there pretty much.
What do you mean by this?
"Didn't really exist?!"
What the h**l is that?!
Guy makes a very good point. Kenny is very ripped/drained at the weigh ins as it is now.
I don't think 145 it's a good idea for him!
I ould see him as one of the most skilled fighters at 145 if he would drop down.
If Aldo would move up, i would have him as the favorite to take the belt.
But i don't think he will do it.
He would be like Nate Diaz at 155. Kinda skinny and not bringing a lot o power with him in his fights.
It's crazy to see him drop from 185 to 145. That's like James Irvin from 225 - 185. Now that was bad!
Thing is I believe Kenflo feels like he's in no man's land right now. He's contended for the belt twice now. One more time if he can get there through Edgar/Maynard/Guillard. If he loses that's pretty much it. He'll be like Rich Franklin. Move up or down. In this case he wants to test himself with Aldo. Aldo will probably obliterate him because Kenflo will be way too drained, no power, and most important of all he won't be acclimated in that weight class.
Tough spot to be in career wise when you're "good", but not good enough to be the champ or at least #2.
I think this is a bad idea. I would much rather see him at 170 again. He looks skinny at 155, he is going to be even skinnier at 145. He is the same height as people like GSP and Koscheck, he could do 170 again easily.
Florian is gonna need to switch to a vegetarian diet if he wants to fight at 145. He says he walks around a little over 170lbs.
This must be working cuz Nick and Shields keep winning!
I don't understand how they retain muscle mass on that diet. Soy, spinach? I never thought there would ever be a vegetarian fighting in MMA. But no wonder their conditioning is exceptional especially with Nick.
Hmm...maybe lots of supplements and protein shakes.
Also on the average, I would say strikers have a better relative advantage when they move up in weight. Wrestlers have a better relative advantage when they move down.
You base this on past performances? If no, I wouldn't say that strikers have a better relative advantage when they move up, because they already have the strenght/size disadvantage, and if you're not a wrestler.. well then you're in some trouble. Just my two cents.
He has to do something because he will never hold a belt at LW. He looks rather emaciated at weigh ins so 145 might be bad for him, but the competition there isn't as stiff so if he can do it, its good for his career. WW he won't hold a title either. GSP, Fitch, Penn, Alves, Hughes, Shields, Kamp, Condit and Johnson will all beat him....
