How does Shogun who has yet to defend his belt, and who got tooled by a guy that Anderson humiliated, compare to GSP who has shown to be an equally dominant champion and unbeatable in recent years?

Add to that the fact that Shogun is basically a slower and less versatile version of Anderson, and stylistically it just makes no sense. GSP at least has the tools to really threaten Anderson.

The only people picking Shogun are GSP haters. There's no way a fresh unproved champion counts as a "superfight" for Anderson, he's dispatched many other short lived champs quite easily.

Really both, but #1 V #2 fights that don't happen are bad for any sport. Silva V GSP is super-mega fight. Though both mentioned fights can (and IMO should) happen. If (when) Silva beats Belfort. And if (when) GSP beats Shields. Silva gives Okami his shot, with a predictable outcome. GSP gets a few extra months to add some weight to his dumbells and drink an extra milk shake.

Pacquiao V Mayweather

or

Mayweather/Pacquiao V Sergio Martinez

Although Silva/Shogun certainly seems like the fight that'd have more fireworks, it's not the superfight out of those two. A superfight is between two dominant guys, and although Shogun could very well turn into one, as of right now he hasn't defended his belt once. It would take a few more fights, especially at LHW for him to be in the same position as Silva and GSP

I voted OTHER. And the answer is: Shogun vs Bones.

But, not taking that into consideration i would say Silva - Shogun.

2 of the best P4P fighters in the world.
Both amazing Muay-Thai fighters.
Both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts.

It would be a clinic.

And my money would be on Shogun btw.

.

No. I'm not GSP hater. In fact, I like the guy as a fighter and his personality, but I'm a fan of heavier weight classes, so Silva vs Rua at 205 sounds more appealing.

Favorite fighters:
1. Badr Hari
2. Remy Bonjasky
3. Mauricio Rua
4. Anderson Silva
5. Alistair Overeem

After Shields, I don't want to see GSP recycle opponents. If Silva beats Belfort/Okami, MW is absolutely cleaned out as well.

I think Bones LHW championship fight is the is the start of a GSP/Silva like era at LHW. Especially against Shogun, who is very take down prone. (styles make match-ups) LHW will get cleaned out. Regardless of GSP superfight happening, Silva should move up to LHW by the end of this year.

GSP is my second favorite fighter after Jon Jones.

So, you can't call me a *hater* because i would pick another fight instead of a GSP fight.

Don't get me wrong, i would love to see GSP vs Silva, but i have an idea on how the fight would turn out.
I think it wouldn't be a surprise to see this fight going almost the same way as Silva - Sonnen, with GSP taking Silva down and trying to dominate like he usually does. Without GSP being subbed of course.

But when i'm thinking of Shogun vs Silva, i can't really think on how the fight would turn out.
They're both big guys, have amazing skills and are very explosive.

It's a perfect match-up for me.

EDIT: A 100% HEALTHY SHOGUN...AND SILVA AS WELL

Silva GSP by a mile. Shogun has a lot of work to do before he is anywhere the level of GSP and Silva (in terms of cleaning out the division).

Lets face it none of us know what Shogun will be like coming off another major surgery. He said everything was fine last time only to gas to Griffin and look almost as bad as Coleman.

Imo Silva vs Shogun is a far superior option than GSP vs Silva, but I think I could list 20 if not more fights I would sooner see than Silva vs Shogun, well maybe about 10 without going into cross promotion territory and using people like Fedor, Overeem and Mousasi to aid my claims, so for the sake of this post I will keep it real inside the UFC and think of what the best fight is that the UFC alone could offer and make a top 5 list.

JDS vs Cain
Rash vs Jones
Maia vs Palhares
Shogun vs Silva (yea ok been honest with myself now this does fall into the top 5)
Bisping vs Stann

Anderson/GSP as far as PPV buys.
Silva/Shogun as far as the fight

Shogun isn't a top P4P guy, some rank him, I don't but there's no denying he's the best Light Heavyweight in the World. GSP and Anderson are 1 and 2 on pretty much every list out there, it'd be the biggest fight in MMA history and rightfully so.

But Shogun vs. Silva would be a MUCH better fight in terms of the actual fight.

Always rooting for: Bisping, Shogun, Jon Jones, Daley, Hardy, Sonnen, Fedor, Couture, Jacare.
