Andrei Arlovski to Fight at UFC 70

MMA Weekly has Arlovski slated to fight at UFC 70 in England. Could this be the dream match with Cro Cop we all have been hoping for? Your thoughts?

Crocop - Kongo would probably be a more average fan-pleasing bout due to Kongo's kickboxing ability, whereas CC - AA matchup would be more entertaining for the more educated fan and a much more evenly matched affair. Either would be fine with me though...(Im hoping for AA)

AA needs to build back up before fighting CC. I think CC should fight Sylvia first...and after he beats him Sylvia and AA can go @ it for a 4th time. I believe AA will win that fight.

My Top 5

1. Cro Cop
2. GSP
3. Mauricio RuA
4. Quinton Jackson

Please oh please, let CC vs. AA happen at UFC 70

This fight would make so much sense on so many different levels... It's a no brainer.

1) Entertainment value - Very high degree of probability that this would be a highly entertaining fight. It would probably take place almost exclusively on their feet, but it would be interesting to see if Arlovski would try to take Cro Cop down eventually (like he should have Tim Sylvia).
2) Logical to the casual fan - The casual fan already knows AA quite well, and he is generally a 'fan favorite' type fighter (and why not?). Even a casual fan who just saw Cro Cop for the first time could appreciate his skill. While his fight with Sanches wasn't spectacular, he did deliver on his promise and got to show off his tremendous striking skill. If nothing else this is an exciting "Top Experienced Veteran (AA) vs. Promising Newcomer (CC)"" type fight with at least one fighter that they probably like.
3) Logical to the knowledgeable MMA fan - This fight makes perfect sense. We all know Cro Cop is world-class and probably the best fighter not named Fedor in the HW division. He got his sacrificial lamb in the form of Sanchez. Props to Eddie for fighting hard, but let's face it, that fight didn't really prove much of anything because Sanchez isn't anywhere near Cro Cop's league. Arlovski on the other hand is a legitimate top heavyweight and a former champion. A victory over AA instantly makes Mirko a legitimate #1 contender. On the flip side, Arlovski was once the "indestructible" champion who sort of fell from his pedestal with 2 straight losses to Tim. However he is still a very good fighter who is very capable of being champion again. The fight against Cruz didn't really prove much for AA even though Cruz is a legitimate guy. A victory over a top of the ladder type guy like CC would instantly propel Arlovski right back into the title picture. This is the most logical #1 contenders match I can think of.

AA vs CC won't happen and I'm willing to bet on it. You fail to realize tht the reasons you listed for a AA vs CC battle will still be there later. Why would he UFC do this fight now when it will be bigger later?
