A Super Fight Opportunity Missed

It just occurred to me, as much as I like the Jones vs Shogun match-up I don't think anyone could of argued if they made Jones fight once more against say an ex-UFC champion like Machida, Rampage or Forest even before gaining his title shot.

While in the mean time a an opportunity for the daddy of all super fights has been missed, thats right why did Dana White not wait and see what happened in the Silva/Belfort match up before making the announcement about Jones vs Shogun, to see if Silva came out injury free with the win just like he did, then see if A.Silva wanted the chance to go centre stage March 19th for Silva vs Shogun.

Dana White you son of a b1tch, why did you not think of this and try setting up what is really the most anticipated fight amongst the fans, fcuk Silva vs GSP which is looking less and less likely to happen anyway, Silva vs Shogun is what we all really want to see, and you just missed the perfect opportunity to set it up, well done.

That's hilarious. We're all talking about GSP and Shogun, but none of us truly realized it could have very well happened. All of us would have been hyped up if they fought tmr. But I suppose in reality Anderson needs a bit more time to train and acclimate back into the LHW division. More importantly he has Okami and a supposed GSP as a challenger.

Good thought though...and "STILL THE MW CHAMPION. BTW: How would you like to fight Shogun Rua for the LHW title?"...DAYAM...that would have been crazy man for sure...

Even GSP would have said, "I was veryyy imbressed by your performance."

I don't think it would of been that hard for Silva to prepare for a LHW bout between now and mid March, it would of been a lot more difficult if he had to cut weight as appose to gain, besides does he really walk around at a lot less than 205 anyway he would not have to cut at all for the fight and just have time to get into prime condition.

Besides When he fought Forrest at LHW it was only a couple of months after his last fight at MW so I don't think it would have been much of a problem for him at all.

As for Okami he would still get his shot at MW he would just have to wait, and in no way did Silva get any type of injury in that fight so he still has the motivation coming from his training for the Belfort dam that could of been considered a slack training session, he could just go straight back to camp and carry on preparing for the Shogun fight knowing he would not have to do any time of weight cut and just add a strength and conditioning aspect to his training to get him up to 205 in prime uncut condition.

I have not seen any confirmation of this, and there sure as hell wont be till after the GSP/Shilds fight at best, besides GSP vs Silva does not mean anything in P4P sh1t its as worthless as P4P ratings themselves, its a borderline freak show between a fighter who should be at LHW and a fighter who belongs at WW.

GSP vs. Silva is THE Real SuperFight Killer and the only one out there right now! Shogun is a very unconstant fighter who loses one day and wins the other.. besides he comes off a 1 year layoff.

Anderson made it pretty clear time and time again.. that he won't fight for the LHW belt, because he does not want to take away Lyoto's opportunity too win that belt again. He is happy with one belt!

I don't know whats so hard to understand here honestly :dunno:

Also in any Sport out there, you normally never get too see the two best fighters on the planet fight each other.

Also, there wouldn't be a huge weight disadvantage here because Silva can't cut down from 230lbs.. that would be insane. He would be around 205-10 just like GSP. The difference however would be the heigh and reach advantage from Silva.

That is a BS reason if I ever heard one, GSP is a natural WW because he is at his athletic peak at WW, Silva on the other hand is more at his athletic peak at LHW but takes advantage of an ability he has to cut to MW to fight guys smaller than him, and I am not just talking about height or reach, I am talking about how well rounded and filled out your body is to be at its up most prime condition.

If Silva wants to prove he is P4P then he needs to start by fighting guys his own size in the LHW division, as for GSP he is cool to stay where he is and right now for how pathetic P4P ratings are holds the edge on Silva because he does fight guys his own size.

As for your comments on the best fighters in the world that is also BS, they are the best fighters in the divisions where they compete nothing more, if you want to watch the best in the world you need to watch HW and LHW, and if you think this is BS then imagine a freak show where GSP was set to fight Cain or JDS in open weight under no restrictions and what a absolute smashing he would get, sure it would not be a fair fight but then how can you argue the smaller guys are the best fighters in the world?

The main reason I would have liked to see Silva/Shogun is to see Silva fight again in March. I love watching this guy fight.
