Rampage Jackson v Rashad Evans Announced For UFC 130

It appears that while Quinton “Rampage” Jackson won’t get a title shot, he will get a second fight against a former champion.
Sources have indicated to MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday that Thiago Silva has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight at UFC 130, and will be replaced by former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans.
Neither Evan’s co-manager Malki Kawa or Jackson’s representatives could be reached for comment, but sources close to the bout confirmed that it will be Evans that steps into the UFC 130 fight.
Evans was just forced out of his UFC 128 bout against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua due to a knee sprain suffered in training. The Team Jackson fighter wasn’t seriously injured, and was already hoping to be back as early as May. It looks like he’ll get his wish.
There’s no love lost between Evans and Rampage, who had an epic war of words leading up to their fight at UFC 114 in May 2010. Evans went on to win the fight by unanimous decision, but then waited for an injured Rua to return for a shot at the belt.
Unfortunately for Evans, due to the knee injury, his training partner and close friend Jon Jones will get the chance to fight for the belt instead, and he will get another shot at Jackson.
The bout between Evans and Jackson will still be a co-main event fight for the card headlined by UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar defending his belt against Gray Maynard.

Who didn't see that coming..

I hope this isn't the case ... I'd rather see Rashad v Forrest II

I can't see why he wouldn't get a title shot, I mean if he fights Rashad and wins then he would have beaten the current number 1 contender. Should still lead to a shot surely?

He is not in shape to fight in 6 weeks time for the title shot. He knows he will get another title shot, why ruin it and most likely drop down the ladder with a loss because you werent in shape?

What the hell is going on here.

First Thiago claims he's not injured, then there's probably with the testing.

Oh wells another black on black crime...another day in the ghetto. Rampage better not let me down. Had a buddy who lost $5k on that fight...ROFLZ!!!

I'm just trying to clarify that if he beats Rashad at 130 (the title being up for grabs at 128) he still gets the winner of Jones vs Shogun?

What about Thiago? That's not very fair.

In another thread there are rumours/reports stating Thiago was juiced in his fight with Vera. If so he will get a ban and be unavailable for 130. Rashad will be healed up in 8 weeks from what I heard so should give him enough time to train and stand in as Thiago's replacement at 130.

I'd rather see TS vs QRJ than RE.

Oh ffs. Rashad's last opponent WAS Rampage..whom he embarrassed for most of the fight. Everyone talks about how Rampage 'wasn't in shape, didn't have the motivation blah blah blah' but that's complete and utter bollocks. Rampage had a FULL training camp, his long layoff meant that he had no injuries and, finally, he had ALL the motivation in the world against Rashad. Rashad verbally batter him whenever Rampage would try his 'funny' antics, and proved to be a better man than he is on TUF..and now Rampage gets another shot at him??

Give me a break. Dana wants to see Rampage humiliated again, fair enough. Just give him somebody who ISN'T Rashad. There is nothing I can see Rampage doing differently in this fight that suggests he can beat Rashad. Rashad's too fast and his wrestling is too good. This time, Rampage would get knocked the **** out if he thinks he can try and stalk Rashad down.
