Top UFC welterweight standout Josh Koscheck is currently sitting on the sidelines recovering after undergoing surgery to repair the broken orbital he suffered in his UFC 124 title fight with Georges St. Pierre last December. Koscheck found himself dominated and unable to mount any significant offense over five rounds in his first-ever title fight.

St-Pierre now moves on to his next challenge in former Elite XC Welterweight Champion and Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields. St-Pierre will face Shields at UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields on April 30 in Toronto.

While Koscheck has never faced Shields, he feels that the champion should have an easy time if he comes in with the right game plan.

"I think it's an easy fight for Georges if he plays a smart game plan," Koscheck told MMAJunkie.com. "But Jake Shields is definitely a good fighter. He's got some weapons. He's got a good guillotine, and he's vicious on top."

As for Koscheck, even though the loss last December was the second time he lost to GSP, Koscheck still plans to climb the ladder and become a contender again... eventually.

"I'll continue to grind and build my way up to being the No. 1 contender and put myself back in the position," he said. "Right now, that's so far away for me. I still have five months of recovery."

UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If St-Pierre is able to successfully defend his title, he will likely move up a weight class and face UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

kind of a misleading headline. I'm not fan of Koscheck but he didn't say Jake Shields sucks ass, in fact he said:

Which is not really demeaning at all (and actually, literally the opposite of saying he sucks), he just thinks Georges' skills and style make it an easy fight for GSP. As far as Kos' attitude goes that's pretty benign... even friendly.

yea.. you're right man.. i wanted an attention-grabbing headline.

sucks that this has already been posted.
i always check to make sure something hasn't been posted.

As for what Koscheck said.. i interpreted as GSP will dominate.

Considering Kos has trained with Shields and fought GSP twice I think this just confirms what most of us already know.
this is the sentiment i had, but there are many on this forum who will beg to differ.
either they are delusional, or just GSP haters.

Lol exactly what i was going to say, Kos knows both fighters decently well, and has fought GSP twice, but like u said i already knew how this fight is going to happen.

And the only reason Kos gave as much respect to Shields as he did was because he knows him personally and doesn't want to talk to much shit
