Brian Ebersole vs Chris Lytle... OUCH

Dang ive been a big Brian Ebersole fan, and i was waiting for him to make a SF or UFC debut already...

But Chris Lytle... I feel this is a mistake on Joe Silva...

Chris has looked nothing other then a top contender and i feel can take Koscheck and would have a good fight against someone like Alves.

HIs ground game has never looked better and his stand up has always been on point, but now more then ever.

I always looked at Lytle as extremely well rounded and if he just improved a little more overall he will be a top contender, and he has done just that of lately, and is starting to show his full potential.

He reminds me of Melvin Guillard, and i would LOVE to see Guillard go up and fight someone like Lytle, Melvin looks like monster LW, so i think he could make WW no problem.

But i think Lylte vs Ebersole is like one of the most obvious Picks on this 127 card, even though I love Eversole and was hoping he would get a few good wins in UFC to feel comfortable before getting someone as experienced as Lytle... Tough Break

I say he reminds me of Guillard mostly cause of there experience and that they had some tough loses in there career because they were so well rounded but not Super great at one thing, now i think there both Great at everything, and its now very exciting to see them perform

Whilst I agree that its a very tough first fight, I'm 100% sure Ebersole is really happy about it! If he loses, its no big deal... Lytle is a bit of a beast. If he wins? He gets launched right up the ladder.

I can see Lytle not being too happy about it, but hes a proper fighter and will get on with it. Plus, uncle Dana has probably given him assurances.

Lol yeah for the respect of Joe Silva this was a fill in fight, but this fight just seems to brutal to start your Debut on...

Your totally right that it wont mean much if he loses and it would mean A LOT if he wins, so its almost a lose, lose for Lytle but, i still see it as a easy win for Lytle, but i want to see top level fights with Lytle, like Carlos Condit fight they had lined up.

I saw Lytle winning that fight too... I guess ill have to wait, but you know Dana wanted this because he knows if he needs a replacement for Lytle lets get someone to make a KOTN or SOTN.

We all know how Lytle always gets those lol

Upset of the year !
You heard it first here!

I will admit: i have no idea who Ebersole is: but i've been looking at his record and it's not that bad actually. He has 14 losses, but he went the distance against Kyle Noke and lost by TKO in the 4th rd against Lombard, in 2008. Going 4 rounds with Lombard is something.

Should be a good fight though.

Lol Limba, this fight is going any way Lytle wants it... Thats why its hard to assume how he is going to finish this fight...

He might just sub him because when Ebersole sees he cant do shit on the feet, he will try a TD, and i see it getting stuffed to the point that Lytle will either get full mount or side mount, and prob sub him from there

Comm'on man!

Don't spoil it for me... of course Lytle is a clear favorite, but this has "upset of the night/year" written all over it!

Not that it will happen, but how many times in a year do you have a chance to pick a HUGE upset?!

I never picked one!
Just trying my luck with this one. lol

This fight sucks for Lytle, it moves him no-where up the ladder and he can only lose in this situation, hopefully he can win FOTN though, im sure he'll win some OTN award

How has Lytle looked like a contender? He has looked good because he has been fighting lower tier guys. Lytle is a tough guy who is well rounded but everytime he faces the top of the division he loses and I haven't seen anything from him that would make me think that will change.

He'll be around for a long time because he can beat most guys who aren't top 10 and because he knows he makes his living from FOTN bonuses, not by getting title shots and he fights accordingly.

I am a big Lytle fan but I have to point out that he's already fought Kos 2 years ago and Kos completely dominated him all 3 rounds. It was a bloody mess. Considering Alves is better at striking and bjj and has elite TDD, I'm not sure where Lytle beats him either.

I would love to watch Lytle fight guys like Condit, Thiago and Kampmann, but I really don't think he is a match for the Fitch/Kos/Alves/GSP monster at the top of the WW food chain.
