C'mon he fought what was available in that division at the time and beat them all and will beat the fighters who are in that division now, and I know Nate might not be a top level fighter but holy shit, Franklin knocked him the "fock" out

Yeah, you said it. He beat three mediocre guys.

Exactly what I meant by the post. Im not saying UFC doesnt overhype all their champions, but I think by far Rich is the most undeserving of the hype out of all of them. You can say he had a bad night against Silva, but seriously to me a bad night for a champion is a rough fight ending in a decision or something along that line. Not getting completly dominated and crushed 3 minutes into the fight, and I also already said in my first post I mistyped on the title.

Pair of Aces has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Rich Franklin isn't overhyped, and the only reason this is coming up is because Franklin was brutally massacred by Silva. Silva isn't a better striker, it's just the fact that Franklin couldn't defend the Tai clinch.

The Machida defeat was 3+ years ago. To think that Franklin hasn't improved since then would be ignorant.

Also, Franklin was coming off injury leave, and hadn't fought for 8+ months. Instead of the UFC giving him a warm-up bout, they went ahead and threw him to the lions, otherwise known as Anderson Silva.

And I am not a huge Franklin fan, not even a top 20 so I'm not nuthugging, I am just being real.

Now here's a question for you.

What makes you think after seeing Lytle's takedown defense against Serra, that he will be able to keep Hughes from taking him down. I mean, Hughes far superior at takedowns than Serra, and that is undisputed by anyone with an ounce of MMA knowledge, so what makes you think Lytle will be able to stop Hughes' takedown? You went as far as saying Lytle would BEAT Hughes, all I said was Franklin stands a great chance to go the distance and maybe lose maybe win.

Well???.....
I thought that Lytle had great take down defense against Serra...in fact I believe he won that fight and that decision made me sick. I also believe that something is wrong with Matt. I'm not a psychologist but I do know that sometimes when a fighter reaches the top and stays there for a while they lose their motivation, their "edge" and I think that could be it. I also think that he's coming into this fight with a lot of pressure to perform well, Lytle has nothing to lose which should allow him to be a little more relaxed and confident.

I also think that Hughes is an overrated cocky little prick which makes it fun to cheer against him

Well I was kind of hoping and expecting you to say something I didn't agree with but I agree Lytle had great takedown defense, I agree he should have won the fight, I agree the decision made me sick too, but I don't know if Matt has anything wrong with him lol. He could, but I also agree he is cocky, a little overrated, and it is definately fun to cheer against him. But, IMO, like I said before, Lytle isn't any better than Trigg, or Riggs, or the 1st GSP, so...I don't see Matt having trouble with him. Even if Hughes is a bit overrated, you can't deny that when he fights a mediocre opponent, such as Lytle, he dismantles them and does it pretty convincingly. Hughes only seems to have trouble with people like Penn and GSP...and Sakurai...but even the Sakurai fight he did pretty damn good and that was a while ago...

Now things are getting ridiculous.

Matt Hughes has beaten Carlos Newton(Twice), GSP, BJ Penn, Frank Trigg(Twice), Sakurai, Gil Castillo, Charuto, Riggs, & Sean Sherk. He is in no way overrated, and he never backed down from a challenge. Hughes was the epitome of the working man's champion, and he deserves all the hype.

Chris Lytle is a tough fighter, but Hughes will decimate him. Hughes took down GSP, Carlos Newton, & Frank Trigg. He'll have no problem taking down Chris Lytle.

Matt Serra should be fighting at LW. It didn't surprise me to see him being practically unable to take Lytle down. Serra's a good jitz guy, and he throws wild strikes. That about sums him up.
