Machida should drop down to 185

This guy is good and he can hang with the big boys at 205. But I dont see him beating Chuck or Tito. But at 185 I think he could be champ. It seems to me he is a small LHW, I beleive he only weighed in at 203. So it is def possible. And the MW division has alot of decent fighters but very few great ones. And I think the addition of Machida would be great

you're right dude. He's good but its pretty clear he is undersized in the 205 division. I believe he weighed in at 203, and that usually means he didnt cut wahtsoever. Lutter tried cutting from 210 according to his interview, Machida would definitely make the weight.

i'm not sure but I think he's traning partners w/ Anderson Silva..so I guess that'll be a problem. He used to look a lot bigger; but now he looks small for LHW, though.

he could cut easily and make weight. he'd be a force at 185, but really he is gonna do quite well at 205. i'm not sure if he can beat chuck, tito, or rampage, but i think he can hang with those guys. i'd like to see him work his way up the 205 ladder first and if he does lose to the big name guys, then drop down to 185.

See, thats the kind of thing I would try to avoid. "If I lose, I'll just go to a smaller division" - not a big fan of that. You remember, we had that discussion about Mirko following Eddie to 205 and then Eddie eating his wway up? Mirko should drop if he wins the HW belt. Machida should either drop now (before he fights any of the big name fighters or just stay at 205 and stick to it no matter what). Thatts just me though...

i can see your point but machida knows himself as a 205 lb fighter. you know? he see's himself as a lhw. i really think he can succeed in the lhw division and i think he believes that as well. so why not try it? he can give the top 3 guys a run for their money. he can beat rashad, forrest, jardine, bisping, etc. and i think he could beat tito, rampage and chuck if he's on his game and has things go his way. now i'm not saying he will beat everyone, but if he fights to his ability, he could. thats why i think he should stay at lhw for the time being.

And what I was trying to add was that he should stay at 205 if he chooses to start fighting the bigger names in that division. I m just personally not a big fan of the "I ll drop if I get beat idea". I gotta go to work , peace

I agree, I don't like the whole "drop down if I suck at my real weight" philosophy. Machida is starting to get some hype here now that he has debuted in the UFC, and thats good to see. He is a really talented fighter, and Pride fans know that he is very dangerous striker.
