Coach says winner of Florian vs Nunes gets title shot after UFC 130

Quote:

Recently Kenny Florian announced he’s changed from lightweight to featherweight, which has as its champion the Brazilian Jose Aldo. On his debut in the new weight class, Florian fights Diego Nunes, who’s coming from a win over the former champion Mike Brown. On a chat with TATAME, André Pederneiras, Diego’s coach at Nova União, confirmed the bout for UFC 131, which is scheduled for June 11th, in Vancouver, Canada. “We’ve got the contract here, we’ve signed it and we’re sending it today for UFC”, confirmed Andre. The winner of this bout will have a title shot. But, if Diego wins, he’ll only fight for the belt if it’s not on Junior’s hands”, guarantees Pederneiras.

I have the feeling that Kenny's move down to 145 was because Aldo wouldn't fight him because he was never a champ. Almost like Kenny wasn't worthy to fight Aldo.

I'm predicting a win over Nunes and a win over Aldo at 145. Finally Kenny gets a belt.

Aldo will move up to LW, for a Super fight or undefeated, after relinquishing his FW belt!

This didn't even need to be announced.

Anyway, Aldo should make quick work of Nunes.

Somehow ..... i agree.
I believe a strong wrestler would cause him the biggest problems.

But Aldo has great TD defense and his Jits is levels above Mendes'.
Plus Mendes showed some holes in his standup against Omigawa!
Aldo would make him pay! Badly!

Question is how much much power and energy will be drained from Florian. These fighters in limbo are in a bad spot. At least he's a pretty good commentator.

Unfortunately I have not seen footage from Nunes to be able to judge the fight. Aldo will light up anybody. Aldo vs Edgar would be such an interesting matchup.

I don't think anyone from Team Alpha Male wants to be near Aldo, say what you want about the level of competition he's beat but those leg kicks to Faber were rough. I'm pretty sure those guys know what Aldo can do and Mendes probably doesn't want any of that.

I think Florian is an interesting match up for Aldo, but I have Aldo leg kicking Florian to the point he can't stand and thus we see Aldo take the back and either secure a TKO stoppage or a submission win.

Always rooting for: Bisping, Shogun, Jon Jones, Daley, Hardy, Sonnen, Fedor, Couture, Jacare.
