Whether it's overrated or not, he has far better stand up then Fitch. He has great takedown defence, some of the best in MMA. Although it isn't perfect when the takedowns are being set up with strikes, which Fitch does not do. And world class BJJ.

In my humble (and no doubt slightly biased) opinion, that is enough to get by scary growl faced Fitch.

For some reason I see Fitch finishing BJ, probably on the ground.

In my opinion, anybody who can beat Jon Fitch, deserves a shot, regardless of any other factors. I will be shocked if BJ pulls it off. Be honest, if BJ beats Fitch, wont you be curious?
I would be curious if the GSP/Fitch fight was even remotely competitive. I just don't see Penn beating GSP at all.

i see no reason to believe he can stop Fitchs in your face style. This fight wont be fought at range, it will be grinded down and BJ off his back flat out isnt good enough to deal with Fitchs wrestling, bjj and cardio.

If proven wrong, ill give BJ mad props and deem him worthy of a title shot. I just have an extremely difficult time believing it will happen.

Ahhh... but the point is, what if BJ stops Fitch? That's something GSP couldn't do. Adds an interesting angle.

I guess I dont really give Penn a hope in hell, hence my willingness to give him a shot if he wins. I just dont see it happening. *IF* it does, I will be mighty impressed. Blown away even.

Penn v Fitch should be interesting.

I have no interest in GSP v Penn 3.

GSP learned 5 years ago what Penn is just learning now. You have to train with the best of the best.

We've seen this before with Hughes. The first fight was close. The second showed GSP's progression was much greater and on a different level. A third is an unnecessary embarrassment.

Penn might not fight GSP for the title though. Shields could win or GSP could vacate the WW title before a superfight with Silva.
