Ah I see what you were saying now; my bad. I agree his deconstruction of opponents is impressive.
Brandon Vera is absolutely a nobody at LHW. He has done nothing but disappoint in every match and even his wins against Pat and KS certainly didn't boost his stock and definitely did not make it seem as though gold was in his future.
The Hamill fight didn't end (in my eyes) so i'm not sure why you mentioned that. He was certainly winning until the DQ, though. So i'll give you that. Hammill is a big name but the fight didn't rly end.
Bader is definitely his big win and the one that makes me wanna believe he is as good as people believe he is. I just wanna see him take a on a vet at lhw that won't be intimidated by Jones.
All I was trying to say is that Bones is in a very similar situation to my man Overeem. Is the talent there? it's obvious from watching that Bones is very skilled, very powerful, very smart. Does he have potential to be a champion? Damn right! Bones is the fav against Shogun for a reason. But why is he the fav? Speculation. Jones has not beat a BIG name. He does not have a win over a Machida/Rampage/Evans/Couture/Ortiz/Griffin.
And of course it doesn't mean Jones is not an elite level fighter because he hasn't faced one. That wasn't my intention. I was commenting directly on his supposed ability to look past big names, and I was pointing out that he hasn't had any big names he needed to look past yet.
And he is most certainly riding a hype train! It does not mean the hype is incorrect, but it is certainly an enormous hype-train/plane/taxi cab of some sort. I didn't intend to imply it wasn't justified.
So the difference between them is that Overeem has already lost to big name MMA fighters (like Rua) and Jones has not?
So, I disagree that it's contradictory if he's doing it on purpose.
Yeah what I was getting at, is that he does something normally percieved as a weakness, and he says that it is not a weakness and he does it on purpose. So he is an anomaly to a very common thing, but all we have to go on is his word.
No reason to disbelieve him, I'm just looking at both sides of the coin.
