Hypothectical Bisping Vs. Belfort, 2 part question
This fight has been circling the rumor mills since Saturday night. I think it's a great fight and should happen. With Belfort just coming off a loss the Anderson, he would be very unlikely to be granted another title shot so quickly.
Here's the the two part question part: If Bisping were to take this fight, do YOU think he should get a title shot? And regarless of that answer. Do you think the UFC would give him one? _____________________ My personal side is yes, and yes. Anderson has already said he'd like to fight Mike, and he'd like to fight in England. Pretty sure Dana couldn't help but milk that cash cow. Plus, I happen to be one of the rare Bisping fans around here. |
The UFC has been trying to, undeservedly, work him into the title picture for a long time now. He really has been thrust into it by not his own abilities, but by the amount of interest he can generate in he fight.
I think if he does fight Belfort he'll probably be given one of those "if you win then you get a title shot but not the other guy" deals. Belfort probably needs another two fights with impressive finishes to be able to get back to the title, even then I almost doubt he could get back because he can't create the emotional response that Bisping can in fans. People want to watch Bisping fights because he's a polarizing figure, you either want to see him win or get his face smashed, regardless of which people want to see him. I guarantee that if Bisping gets a title shot it will be in Manchester. |
If the UFC wants Bisping to have a title shot, they need to keep him far away from Belfort.

Round 1 KO by Belfort. Nighty night Bisping!

Bisping to shock the world and take this into the 3rd round... Then get KOd... :-(

Like BWoods said, Dana and Co. are trying very hard to give Bisping a title shot. If Bisping wins, I would expect it.
As to whether I believe he deserves one: No. As hyped as Belfort is, we've sen him fight 2x in the last two years. And both fights ended quickly. I understand Vitor's legacy, but I don't understand why everyone has him pegged as #2 with a W over Franklin at a catchweight. I understand the MW division is lacking, but how about a fight against someone in the top 5. Marquardt? Maia? |
I don't think its true.
Dana already said that Okami is next in line after GSP, thats if GSP wins against Shields. If GSP somehow loses then I fully expect Silva's next fight to be against Okami. |

I think he could beat Belfort and I do think they will give him a shittle tot if he wins. Does he deserve one? maybe he does.
However, I think hes getting TKO/KO'd here |

Bisping is def not being handed anything and his abilities are whats getting him to these fights. He paid his dues long before he came to the UFC and the UFC hasnt gifted him a thing, they give him a couple b level fighters and if he wins, he gets A level fighters. Not uncommon whatsoever. The thing i do find funny is how many ppl try to downgrade him like he doesnt know how to fight. Meanwhile guys like Anderson Silva and Junior Dos Santos think he is a great striker and a good all around fighter. Guess teh fans know more than the fighters.... |
