I think if that fight happens again it will end differently. Siver looked like he was sloppy and kind of took Guillard for granted in that fight, he wouldn't do it again.

Any half decent wrestler will beat him, so I don't think he'll ever fight for the title

I dont think it for either of those reasons...Im leaning towards the 3rd (unseen but obvious) option.
3) People never took Melvin seriously until this past Dunham fight. Melvin was but a blip in their mind until recently. Now people are fiiiiiiiinally paying attention.

There are better strikers in the division than him, there are fighters with better ground games, he is a nice slightly above average guy in all areas which makes him a good test for one dimensional fighters, great as a gate keeper because he is a solid guy to beat him you need to have good everything and a little bit of extra special something, but in the division he is in, I don't rate his chances of going much further than he is right now.

This is very true but it doesn't just apply to Melvin, but Siver and a lot of others, I think people really gave up on everyone at 155 in large part because of the fact BJ was so dominant, Edgar had just beat Matt Veach and Maynard had the awful performance against Nate. When BJ was defeated it really opened the door and made this division as wide open as it is.

I would let him fight against either Miller or Guillard to determine who will be the next contender after Pettis.
Edit: I think he has good chances against Edgar if he could stuff his takedowns. But it would be hard.

I like the sounds of this very much. I think he's one more win away, hense why I voted #1 contender status. Do I think he can beat Edgar? That's questionable at this point... but very possible if he keeps showing improvement like he has.
Siver is an absolute beast... I'd love to see a dirty spin kick on Guillard to avenge his loss

well obviosly I hope that he will be a success in the UFC. We need a "poster boy" here. We need a fighter that puts Germany on the MMA map and hopefully bring more events to my country. Kinda like what Bisping did for the UK.
But honestly, I voted that he will get close to a #1 contender spot and that would already be an accomplishment.
I was really suprised and pleased with his improvend takedown defense in his last fight down under, but I also don't think that Soti is that good of a wrestler to really say if his skills have improved enough.
There are many talented american wrestler there and currently, I do not see Siver stopping them.
His stand up is excellent and also kind of unpredictable and
If he is really busting his ass to get better in wrestling and sub defense then I can imagine him having a shot in the future.
I keep my fingers crossed, hoping for it and anticipating that moment.

People didn't take Melvin seriously because it is only just recently that he's decided to take his career seriously. He's beginning to work on other areas of his game in an attempt to put it all together and fix any and all holes. People can only take a man who falls victim to the same choke hold over and over so seriously, especially when he handed his opponents those wins on a silver platter. Melvin today isn't the Melvin he was two years ago, or even one year ago. People are 'finally' taking notice because he's 'finally' given them reason to.
Though I still say to hell with Melvin Guillard. He may be evolving as a fighter, but he's still a mental midget. He gets one win and declares himself the greatest LW there is. And what's worse is, he actually buys into his own self promotion. I love watching this fool get clowned by anyone in the top five. It makes me smile a big old smile.

eh, thats somewhat bullsh!t....
me personally, Ive noticed Melvin since the Huerta fight (2005 or 06, if my memory serves me correctly) and considered him one of the best boxers in the MMA world, aside from his UFC career.
Like I said....people always have some weird, abstract reason they dont like him. If its not that, it some personal reason in which they consder him a "assh@le" or a "douche"
