The difference is...

Anderson will allow himself to get fat between training camps. He chubs up, eats salty food, that sort of thing.

Guys like Rampage and Forrest do it as well.

Just because GSP doesn't do this (he's pretty much fit ALL the time) doesn't mean he's as small as everyone thinks he is compared to AS.

I agree that the Spider is bigger and will likely throttle GSP, but I just want people to know that the big weight gap isn't just from size alone. It's also from diet.

its been said he is now walking around at about 195..so he is getting pretty big...but how big does he want to get? i think he should just keep this size and jump up, this extra weight he wants to put on might effect his cardio, explosivness, even if he does do it properly...

if he jumps up now he will have a serious speed advantage..the problem is his style requires a lot of strenght i guess...either way i dont even know why hes thinking of moving up, hes too small for MW, he should just dominate WW

oh yeah and thanks for all the articles! good work! =D

What risk is there really for GSP? if he lose's, he just lost to a much bigger top P4P fighter and if he wins then its quite possible that he would be the GOAT. The risk is all on Anderson's shoulders imo. Its kind of like the BJ v GSP situation, BJ got beating pretty bad but because he was the much smaller fighter and he stepped up a weight to fight him, his reputation didnt get hurt that much at all, if anything it just made him a more popular fighter. If GSP steps up to MW to fight Anderson, my opinion of him will increase tenfold, il respect him way more he fights Anderson and lose's, than if he doesnt fight him and continues dominating at WW.

Forrest is considered a huge LHW and Anderson Silva was just as big as him when they fought, I would not be surprised in the slightest if Anderson starts camp at 230lbs. People forget just how huge Anderson really is for a MW because he is so lanky. When people think of fighters at the top of there weight class they imagine guys like Nate Marquardt or Thiago Alves.

Wait, the Welterweight division loses credibility if GSP isn't the champion? It's one of the deepest divisions in MMA. Kampmann, Sanchez, Alves, Fitch, Koscheck, Condit, Diaz, Ellenberger, Hughes, Paul Thiago, Stungun(lol), Ninja, BJ Penn, Shields, Swick. The list of insanely talented fighters at Welterweight is insane and you don't think one of them could emerge as Champion? I could easily see 3 or 4 of these guys rising up, claiming the belt, and holding it for several defenses.

Plus, GSP is going to lose his luster as a fan favorite if he doesn't move his weight class up, I fear. I love the guy, his work ethic and intellect are unquestionable and the way he approaches the sport is perfect. But, I do think he should move up to Middle, and put on the weight properly(as Frank Mir did). If he can beat Anderson we get to see him become the greatest P4P, ever. If he doesn't, so what? At middleweight he'll be challenged by guys who actually have a chance at stopping his takedown, and it will force him to utilize his Karate again. He needs to move up to Middleweight, if for nothing more than to see him evolve into the best fighter he can possibly be.

Bantamweight- Urijah Faber
Featherweight- Jose Aldo
Lightweight- Frankie Edgar
Welterweight- Jon Fitch
Middleweight- Anderson Silva
Light Heavyweight- Jon Jones
Heavyweight- Brock Lesnar

GSP is always evolving, you always see him seecking new things, him moving up to MW wouldnt be anything different

why does GSP have to move up? there will come better and better WWs that can give him a tough fight, hes a good sized WW...he shouldnt have to fight in a division he is too small for, its ridiculous, he would be a tiny MW compared to the top guys

if he moves up the WW division wont have a champ, they will have an eternal #1 contender, if GSP becomes the MW champ and just leaves the WW division being undefetead then every other champ in the WW division will be seen as a #1 contender since they werent able to beat the ACTUAL true champ...it ruins the whole division

the only thing GSP has to do is dominate the WW division until some1 better than him comes along to kick his ass

GSP is definitely scared.................of losing his sponsors. i would love to see anderson KO him but he is just getting pressured into the fight by the fans and he shouldn't consider fighting anderson because of that. it's just not as interesting when a fighter wants to fight someone because the fans want him to instead of him actually wanting the fight to test himself.

He should just stay at WW and set a record there. even though it would be more interesting with him gone.

Screw catchweight. Anderson has fought in atleast 3 different weight classes over his career. GSP has not even thought of venturing into another one. Give him enough time to put on some build and he'll look to be a legit MW as far as his frame. The guy is a genetic freak and knows how to diet. I don't want to hear any excuses that GSP is too small for MW when we all know he is capable of bulking up.

I would love to see the fight at catchweight..But I'm telling you it's not going to happen...First off..Silva is really OLD..He's almost 36 so he claims..Has been fighting for over 10 years in MMA.

And a couple weeks ago I watched a special in Portuguese, Anderson was showing off his house in Brazil...He eats like crap when he's not training..lol..I was dying laughing..frozen onion rings, fried shrimp, fried chicken tenders, ice cream, sugar ceral, gummy bears, pudding, frozen hungry man dinners..lol..It was great...

I kept thinking to myself and this dude hasn't lost in 5 years..WTF?!?!?!
