I said he was in the top 10, but Kawajiri isn't as big a win as what many of the UFC's LW's have on their resume. Kawajiri and Alvarez are both damn good, but its too hard to tell if they could hang with the Maynard/Edgar/Dunham/Siver/Miller/Florian/Sotiropolous' of the world. My guess is that they could compete but I'd take any of the above mentioned fighters over Kawajiri or Alvarez right now.

Alvarez has a great attitude towards fighting, I'm surprised he hasn't been more sought after by the UFC and Strikeforce. Has he turned down contracts from them in the past?

No such thing as a boring Alvarez fight, this guy is awesome.

His little brother just fought last month.

Diaz and Miller bros watch out! We could have a new dynamic duo on the MMA scene. Albert Alvarez, younger brother to Philadelphia fighting phenom, Eddie Alvarez has taken his first step into a professional fighting career of his own. This past Friday, Albert scored an impressive 8 second KO win over Roy Smith at Locked in the Cage 7 in his hometown of Philadelphia, a feat very reminiscent of his brother’s explosive style.

Seven years the younger of Eddie, he was unsure about following in his big brothers footsteps. Eddie does cast a big shadow but Albert felt there was no one better to talk to about competing in MMA than his big bro. “He told me to go for it and not care what anybody else thinks”, young Alvarez recently commented on his convo with Eddie.

Sporting a 2-0 amateur record, Albert is looking to step up and take a pro fight as soon as the opportunity arises and there is no doubt he will have the best corner man a fighter making his pro debut can have. With all the talk of a pro fight on the horizon, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Bellator gave Albert his first shot at the big leagues.

Having an immediate relative with a top 5 world ranking in the most explosive weight class in the sport has its advantages. Given Eddie’s status as champ and king of the tournament style fight promotion, Albert would already be just as marketable as his older sibling.

Being just 20 years of age, he [Albert] has more than enough time and space to grow as a fighter. He already has a solid base as wrestler, having competed all throughout high school as Eddie did and much like Ed, he prefers to stand with his opponents. With the right focus, Albert has the potential to become just as well rounded as Eddie. I truly believe in time, with the right guidance, the Alvarez brothers will be known as a force in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

Siver and Soti are both fairly medicore fighters. What names has Soti beaten?! What names has Siver beaten?! Alvarez has better wins than both of them. Kawajiri would put a clinic on KenFlo too. I'm not sure who Evan Dunham has beaten either to make him such a top lightweight.

I agree , with the exception of the elite LW's i think Alvarez would tear up Soti and Dunham.

Bisping Fan extraordinaire

Velasquez will be back

Alvarez right now is wasting his time in a Promtion with ZERO competition for him.. I don't really understand what he is doing there.

At least sign with SF or Dream.

His best fight recently was Kikuno who almost subbed him in the first round.

Agreed!

I would love to see him enter some real competition for him.

I agree. Bellator isn't the right place for such a fighter anymore.
