If Jones beats Shogun...

...he will be the new LHW Champion!

Plus: what Nikos said.

Wait a second....let me throw something out there....

If Anderson Silva...right now, asked to fight for the 205 title, should he get the shot? I believe yes. I think it would be better if he fought some of the other top names, but if he said he was vacating MW title, or was going to try to hold both belts, sure, give him whoever the current champ is. I think he deserves the shot more than JBJ! (and I am, to be perfectly clear, a believer in the Jones hype, but believe this shot to be too early for him). If Spider is fighting at 205, and challenging the champ (whoever that may be) I don't want to call it a "superfight," it's "just" the p4p king fighting for another belt. The GSP superfight is because it's the two most dominant champs fighting. JBJ v spider wouldn't be a superfight.

If you believe no, AS shouldn't get a shot at the LHW champ, then I could see why you would't want this fight to happen, but it's because SILVA doesn't deserve an immediate shot (which I don't agree with) not because JBJ (who, in this hypothetical IS the champ) doesn't "deserve" the shot at Silva. Silva would be the challenger (though I can't imagine he wouldn't be a heavy favorite.) The Champ "deserves" a shot at any challenger the UFC gives him. Should it be against any of the LHW contenders before Silva, yes....but not because JBJ doesn't "deserve" to fight Anderson Silva.

I really would love to see this fight tbh. It would be a very exciting match.

I have to agree with the majority, though, that the fight does not make sense with the lhw divisions constant belt swapping. Unless that is, Anderson wants to legit compete in both and not just "test" himself.

This is a laughable quote.

If a WW can hold Silva down for 5 rounds, I would think one of the biggest/best wrestlers at 205 could as well.

And why not if Shogun beats Jones that we see Shogun/Silva? That is the fight I want to see.

Silva's too big for GSP. How would GSP win that fight? I don't think he'd have a chance in hell.

Anderson Silva's next opponent should be Yushin Okami, not Jon Jones, not Shogun Rua, not Georges St. Pierre, not Chael Sonnen. Yushin has earned the shot, and Yushin probably would beat Georges at 185.

Anything else is a crime and Okami will get his shot one day in the process defeating Silva again.

Always rooting for: Bisping, Shogun, Jon Jones, Daley, Hardy, Sonnen, Fedor, Couture, Jacare.

I think if Anderson fights at 205 again, it needs to be for the title. Why waste the few fights he has left in the tank on meaningless fights? Besides, he should have the right to move up and immediately fight for the 205 belt. Before that, he should fight Yushin, but he should fight whoever wins next Saturday if he moves up.

GSP vs. Silva makes sense because both of them have pretty much cleared their divisions already. Sure, another "superfight" of Shields vs. GSP is still coming, and many of us are waiting for Silva vs. Sonnen 2 too, but other than that I don't mind postponing other shots at the divisions while p4p rankings are finally being settled.
I think u are cheapening the term superfight by attaching it to this..Shields feasted at strikeforce where the talent is suspect, his biggest wins were against a one dimensional striker who has anaemic wrestling and an ageing fighter who is a natural 205er that still thinks he can moonlight as a 185er.Add to that his fight in the ufc which many thought he lost.I suppose its easier to convince yourself its a superfight so in the event gsp wins it can seem more grand. But the kampman fight showed shields is just goin to be fodder

To Live is 2 suffer, 2 survive? well that is 2 find meaning in the suffering
