If Jones beats Shogun...

Me personally if Jones does beat Shogun I would much rather see Anderson Silva vs Bones Jones rather than GSP vs Silva. What do you lot think?

I think a guy who wins the title should defend it before doing a super fight. I don't want to see either of those fights

I also think if Jones beats shogun the MMA world will have a meltdown as the hype that is Bones Jones can't contain itself

Well yh i do agree there he should defend his title once or twice but i do see it being a better fight than gsp vs silva. If Sonnen can hold Silva down for 5 rounds then GSP can aswell, boring fight IMO.

I'd want to see it eventually, just not yet. You can't throw a figher to the P4P best just because he won a title. Look at Forrest.

I'm a huge Forrest fan but I think Jones is a really special fighter and shouldn't be compared to Forrest because he's already better then Forrest IMHO. Go ahead and call me a Bones nut hugger I can handle it, as long as he has a good showing against Shogun (outcome won't matter) this fight will show us what JBJ is made of and if he's worthy of the hype. That said, if he beats Shogun decisively then a fight against Silva would be awesome and better then a GSP/Silva fight. As good as GSP is and as much as I can't stand Silva, I think Silva would beat GSP. I think a JBJ/Silva fight would be a barn burner because JBJ's aggressive style would force Silva to fight instead of showboating and screwing the pooch like he's famous for.

I agree with you, I'm just saying as of right now we don't know. It was a bad comparison, I know, but you got my point.

it would be more entertaining for sure, but it wouldnt be as important, even though JBJ would be champ hes not the #2 or #1 P4P fighter in the world

no matter how many more entertaining fights there are for AS, the most important fight of his career would be against GSP, beating JBJ would be amazing, but beating GSP would be 10x more amazing

its the 2 best fighters in the world going at it, they might have a boring fight even, but it would still be THE fight to see

Before any "superfights" that include LHW belt happens, the guy who holds the belt has to defend the damn thing atleast 4 times in a row. That hasn't happened since Liddell did it, and before that when Tito did it. LHW is most competetive division in the business with the belt swapping constantly, there is no need to bring champs from other weight classes to keep it entertaining as no-one seems to be able to protect the belt even against current contenders right now.
GSP vs. Silva makes sense because both of them have pretty much cleared their divisions already. Sure, another "superfight" of Shields vs. GSP is still coming, and many of us are waiting for Silva vs. Sonnen 2 too, but other than that I don't mind postponing other shots at the divisions while p4p rankings are finally being settled.
