Cecil Peoples is one man, what about the other two guys there?

It's not like JUST Cecil's judging decides the fight, he has to at least have one person agree with him.

Anyway, Joe Rogan once said that the judges should have some insight/training on MMA, I agree with him on that. I also wouldn't oppose retired fighters judging fights they know the sport, they know the system.

9 is a tad extreme but i do think that 5 judges would make a little difference.

Only problem with ex fighters is proving them to be impartial. Ex fighters will have connections to fighters, camps, friends all over the place, enemies, potential former opponents, former allies etc etc., that would go beyond being able to fully detect all the time. Favouritism or dislike, for a good reason, could be in the ex fighters mind, without anyone else ever knowing.

Of course, I'm not fully suggesting that ex fighters would all consciously do this, but there certainly would be potential conflicts of interest all over the place.

It sounds extreme because its so far from what we have now. But far as I'm concerned, the more eyeballs on the action, the less chance of a stupid result. Assuming the eyeballs in question are reasonably educated of course... not some random collection of muppets.

They would just have 9 people who don't know what they are looking at instead of 3. The number of judges isn't the problem the quality of judges is.
