I honestly think the dude from elitexc will ever pay this. To me its more of a way to throw kind of a wrench in the UFC spokes for awhile. Taking Vera out of the equation has hurt alot of ppv match ups for the UFC in my opinion.

MMA fighters are underpaid as a whole, and he is trying to prove a point.

Or hes just an idiot...

Vera is worshipped by everyone, no matter what he says or does, it doesn't matter. I suppose hes a Hero now because hes asking for more money? Yeah thats it, if he somehow gets a million dollars a fight then EVERYONES pay will go up. He hasnt even beaten anyone worth mentioning for christ sakes. They should throw him in against Arlovski in UFC 70 and we'll see if hes actually worth a million dollars a fight.

That was a foolish move on his part. I'm thinking Elite XC threw out a bogus figure to catch his attention and got him salivating for the big bucks. Unfortunately he just passed up an amazing opportunity with the UFC. 200k a fight is awesome, especially since they'll probably give a decent signing bonus, and you also have to remember that with the UFC comes huge sponsorship checks. The more popular you get in the UFC, the more sponsors will throw money at you to represent them. If he's as good as he thinks he is, he would have taken the contract, got his shot at the title, finished his contract and resigned a new one as the HW champion. Then he'd be able to rack up some serious change. Instead, he threw away his chance at the HW belt to jump ship to a fledgling organization? Not the best choice in my eyes, but you know, it's him and his camp so good luck to them.

Good move by Vera its nice to see someone is standing up for better pay these guys deserve it. All this talk about him not being able to compete with AA or Crocop is rediculous though he is a top competitor. The guy has great boxing skill, good leg kicks to the upper and lower side of the body, and great BJJ. Not to mention his speed and agility for a HW

What do you mean Vera is worshipped by everyone? He is an average fighter in my opinion, and hasnt proven anything yet. He's got long ways to go before he becomes superstar material. I'm just trying to argue that MMA fighters are underpaid in general and Vera might be helping the cause by asking a "fair" price. The price might not be fair according to today's standards - but thats what it needs to be. Look at the kind of money boxers have made over the years ! As it stands, MMA is getting as popular as boxing ever was, and it's time paychecks went up.

Vera isn't a 10K plus fighter, much less, an 100K plus fighter.

To all those who say he is trying to "pave the way for other fighters" really need to re-asses what you are saying.

1) The more your fighters cost the less top name fighters are going to be fighting every month. Aka boxing, you never saw more then a 2 top name boxers a night. Why? Because who the hell could afford to pay everyone 3-5million a fight?

-this actually degrades the product you see. And I really think its one of the reason boxing went belly up. Think about it, every UFC event there are at least 3 match ups that are AAA quality. At least two others are AA and the last ones are A. Thats a lot better then boxings one AAA fight preceeded by class D fighters.

2) If he doesnt succeed he will have reaffirmed the UFC as the power house in the dealings of contracts. Meaning they will show once again they hold the power and you dont. If any fighter knows anything its dont give any reason to have your enemy gain any sort of confindence.

3)That is 1million a fight + a yearly contract + sponsership deals + guest appearences +other entertainment contracts. To pay a guy who hasnt really fought a big name that kind of money would ruin your organization. Because all those top dogs are looking at that going, well Im getting more money too. Pretty soon everyone is asking for that cash.

200k a fight? Thats crazy good money. Dont get me wrong im all for the fighters, however the fighters dont have any place to exhibit their skills if not for the organization. The NFL is the perfect example of balance. Everyone makes money, everyone is happy. The health of the organization is as important as the fighters themselves.
