thats their job and their life they have going on the line guys...you have to realise that instead of persuing a normal career these guys are going to TRY and make alot of $ quickly....not everyone can fight til 43 like randy.

ortiz did this awhile ago trying to get more cash.

they deserve it man...not just vera..all of them do

hes looking out for the wellbeing of his family... the first thing he said in interviews of what he was going to do was buy his parents a house...youll excuse me if i dont think hes an asshole for that.

average male lives to be what...80? so if he makes even 2mil a year for the next 2years (thats how long he wants to fight) thats really not that much money.
it averages out to 40k a year for the next 50 years
no medical insurance ...no retirement benifits of any kind ...nothin like that in the ufc...and the guy has his whole family to take care of.

i could make more as a highschool teacher over the long haul and have retirement benifits rather then a ufc fighter...that doesnt seem right to me

i understand with having issues of paying vera that much...but i honestly think that 100k+ a fight should be normal...the ufc is making hand over fist dollers

So since I'm wrong about him paving the way for the other fighters, your assesment is that their salaries should never go over 300-400K.
Okay, lets do the math.

400K * 10 fighters. That would be five AAA matches.
250K * 4 fighters. That would be 2 AA matches.
100K * 2 fighters. That would be a A match.
Total= 5.2 million

In this case, you would have every fighter defeding their title every event, which is not feasible.

Yet, they all combined make less than half what Oscar makes.

Now, lets look at a more feasible situation:

1Mill * 4 fighters
300K * 6 fighters
100K * 6 fighters

This is 2 AAAs, 3 AAs and 3 As. Correct? Thats a decent card filled with some happy/fairly paid fighters.

Total = 6.4 million.

Still less than half what Oscar makes.

Vera is an idiot if this is true. $200,000 is an amazing deal, he does not deserve anymore than that. Hell, even $200,000 is overpaying.

Too bad they don't need him anymore with Cro Cop here.

Yes, and the millions of dollars that the organization rakes in every PPV in somehow justified. Bravo to UFC.

I like Vera, but $200,000 per fight is a super offer, there are guys way ahead of him that are not making that per fight...guaranteed to boot!!!! He should have taken the offer and stipulated to Dana that they would re-negotiate his contract if and when he ever won the title.

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

if youve watched mma you know hes not 'overrated' he runs threw people in crazy fashion...under two mins for mir? i mean washed up or not thats pretty fast

i think it might be just a counter offer...he starts at 1.5..they say 200...hell come back with another offer...business 101

This could end up biting him in the ass in the long run. Not a very smart move, and for someone whose biggest win is against a post-cycle accident Mir, he sure acts like he's beaten the best in the world. Vera is good, but he is not worth that much. Prove yourself first.

Vera could be a really solid addition to either HW or LHW, but with a money demand like that, I don't expect him to be back for a little while. I know he's shopping around, but pulling stunts like this could hurt his career.
