Send 5 UFC guys to Strikeforce

The one thing that Dana said today that people should really pay attention to is when fighters contracts are up they can go to Strikeforce. For most this may seem like a demotion but this could be a great thing for several types of fighters.

- Guys who have spent years fighting on the prelims but for what ever reason can't main event.

- Guys with one or two more years left in them who can still main event or win titles.

- Guys who can't fight for the titles because of failed shots, teammates, uneven records.

Heavyweight - Randy Couture - Randy has as a strange contract where I believe he can walk away any time he wants. Couture has always wanted to face Fedor and now he might have the best and last chance.

Light Heavyweight - Alexander Gustafsson - a fighter stuck in prelim hell the kid has all the tools to be a champion or a top ten ranked opponent, his problem...he's the fourth best prospect behind three big guys (Jones, Davis, Bader). In the UFC he'll have to wait another year or two to even get a top ten opponent, in Strikeforce he could be champion.

Middleweight - Wanderlei Silva - Wanderlei is never going to fight for a title in the UFC again, but he's looked great at MW and he could step right in bypass the entire division and fight for the title and no one would say an ill word about it.

Welterweight - Josh Koscheck - The most hated man in MMA has gone through the entire division with mixed results. He'll never fight for the title again nor will he ever be considered more than a fringe top ten fighter...unless he moves to Strikeforce. In Strikeforce he can face a number of top contenders and a number of main event fights. Who knows maybe he can even have a back and forth rivalry with Nick Diaz that could establish Strikeforce as a brand.

Light Weight - Danny Castillo - Castillo has the tools to be a top fighter or contender but the UFC LW division is so stacked and at his age he'll never get the momentum needed to be a top guy a move to strikeforce gives him some interesting match ups and might be able to make an impact or name for himself.

they could have went to SF when their contracts are up even if Zuffa didn't buy them...

but i'll play.

Fitch - if GSP stays at 170
Rashad - if Jones wins the belt
Vera- I believe the brought him back for whatever reason
Belcher
Lil Nog

Outside of Wandy...I don't see why the UFC would want their longtime UFC guys to leave at the end of their careers? They have been UFC guys for basically their careers....would be a shame to watch them leave at the end...

Plus, what sense does it make for SF? Bring in a bunch of guys to beat up on younger talent then retire? Bad for business.

It's MMA who knows when guys actually retire. But you do want to bring in guys with followings to boost up the numbers and establish the company. I mean who does Strikeforce have that is really "home grown".

Randy Couture: To fight Fedor. Would be awesome.

Rashad Evans: If JBJ wins he'll be stuck. If GSP moves up he won't even be able to change weight classes.

Josh Koscheck: To add some new blood to the welterweight division. He lost to GSP twice, and is a teammate of Fitch.

BJ Penn: It's a long shot, granted. Think about it, though. He lost to Edgar twice and GSP twice already.

Jim Miller: Already lost to Maynard and Edgar. If he gets another shot, and falters, he could be a guy to push Melendez.

It's unlikely that all these guys move to Strikeforce, but I think they would all add to the ratings quite a bit.

Shane and Schuab i say no because they are still relevant in the UFC Mix.

Rashad no.

In MW you basically sent most of the top 10 ? not a good idea.

WW yea i can agree on them 2.

LW you want to send the 1# contender the next 1# contender and a top 5 UFC LW along with an ex WEC champion ? why not just send Edgar Aldo and Penn aswell.

If they are sending guys , send legends , irrelevant fighters or prospects like Rory Mcdonald not top guys or contenders.

exactly thats my point, if theres a fighter right at the top but cant beat the champ, like Maynard, Fitch etc they could go to SF and see how they do there.

Strikeforce does not have to be second tier, they already have some of the best HW's, they cud be just as good as the UFC just on a local scale.

Very interesting indeed. Still trying to figure out their underlining agenda. Absorb in SF entirely or let it run as a completely separate entity. Thinking the former like WEC.

Randy vs Fedor would be interesting and I know M-1 would salivate all over it to have Fedor regain his momentum. Sadly it won't end pretty for Couture. Fedor is way more faster and powerful than Randy. It'll end in the first round by vicious KO!

1.Kos or Fitch, The solution to the team mate problem.

2.BJ because he wants the biggest fights is an at a stage in his career with him losing to Edgar were the UFC can make money off him expanding the SF brand while fighting any and all in two weight classes. Can also hold title without rematching Egar or GSP.

3. Machida after he loses to Randy he will need a fresh start and there are plenty of good fights for him with the likes of Mousasi.

4. Rich Franklin - Instant contender at 185, doesn't have to fight Anderson Silva again.

5. Thiago Alves- Cyborg/Daley I just want to see some good fights.

I think its very likely that Fitch is fighting in SF before you know it. I think SF will be looking to the UFC WW division for an opponent for Diaz on April 9th.
