MOTO"Mighty Mouse" vs. Barao and YAMA(My NPFFL) vs. Cariaso added to UFC 130

Quote:
A pair of bantamweight bouts has been added to May's UFC 130 card in Las Vegas.

They include Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson (9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Renan Barao (25-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto (18-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) vs. Chris Cariaso (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the fights, which take place May 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with a lightweight title fight and third match between champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

The night's main card airs on pay-per-view, though the two bantamweights bouts likely will be part of a preliminary card that could be broadcast or streamed in some form.

As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously reported, the Johnson vs. Barao bout initially was expected to take place at The Ultimate Fighter 13. Instead, it'll take a few weeks earlier at UFC 130.

Johnson this past month turned in a masterful performance against the highly regarded Yamamoto. Johnson, nicknamed "Mighty Mouse," schooled the Japanese star on the mat and avoided damage on the feet to win a unanimous decision. It was his third straight win, which included a pair of victories in the WEC.

Fellow WEC vet Barao comes to the octagon on the strength of a virtually unblemished professional career in six years of competition. The Brazilian graduated from the lighter-weighted sibling of the UFC following back-to-back WEC wins over Anthony Leone and Cariaso. He now has posted 25 straight wins since an unsuccessful pro debut in 2005.

Meanwhile, Yamamoto once was one of the world's top-ranked fighters following a 14-fight win streak from 2002 to 2007. However, with the loss to Johnson in his highly anticipated UFC debut, he's now lost three of his past four fights.

Cariaso, a former EliteXC and Strikeforce fighter who went 1-1 in the WEC, recently posted a successful UFC debut. At UFC Fight Night 23, he scored a decision win over Will Campuzano for his fourth win in five fights.

The latest UFC 130 card includes:

MAIN CARD

Champ Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (for lightweight title)
Matt Hamill vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve
Jorge Santiago vs. Brian Stann

PRELIMINARY CARD

Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Brad Pickett vs. Miguel Torres
Renan Barao vs. Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson
Chris Cariaso vs. Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto
2 Things

I am very glad to hear that Kid is jumping back in. Not just because he is on my NPFFL roster, even though that helped of-course. For a while there i was not sure what Kid was going to do and i would have had to waste my 1 selection switch on him because he isn't fighting. Safe to say that Kid was my guilty pleasure pick and i HOPE he wins more then i BELIEVE he will win now a days. That said, i just think Kid is better when he fights more often(And he should move to the USA and start training with MUCH better fighters then he can find over at "Krazy Bee" but thats for another time). i Hope this loss lit a fire under his ass and he comes out guns blazing. He didnt look as bad against Mighty Mouse as people were making it out to be. He did some good striking and i believe if the Takedown wasnt on his mind so much it would have let him put his striking together better. And losing to Mighty Mouse, especially as your UFC Debut surely isnt anything to be ashamed of. I think this fight will show that Kid is here to stay or that he just isnt in the same league anymore. Chris is 11-2 which is more then a respectable record. From what i have seen Chris seems like a well rounded fighter but nothing particularly sticks out. I think his strength and weakness is his striking. From what i can tell, he seems to have a good striking game BUT also seems to lack any Knockout power. I see him getting cocky and start swinging for the fences and just then Yamamoto cracks him clean in the jaw to get a KO/TKO victory.

They also seem to have put Mighty Mouse on this card. Renan is no joke so Mighty Mouse better watch out. Im actually predicting an upset for Renan Barao.

This whole card looks amazing. TBH i think this card is a potential FIGHTS of the year card. I mean think about this.

Champ Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (for lightweight title): If this fight is anything like their second fight, then we are in for an exciting Main Event. IMO both guys think they did/can win and that will force them to fight even better. I think they will both push that extra amount just to try and make sure there are no questions after this fight. This can easily become a Epic Rocky type fight. Looking forward to it.

Matt Hamill vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson: We have Rampage Jackson which not always in a exciting fight BUT guarantees that at-least one of them will try and put on a show for the fans. And i personally do find Hamill fun to watch. In this fight he might try and play it safe since a win over Rampage brings him possibly one fight away from a title shot. So i expect Hamill to go for the takedown from the crowd(hiding) as Rampage Jackson is walking to the octagon. I think he knows he will be getting KO'd if he tries to stand. He is on a 5 fight win streak against decent opponents. His best win is against Jon jones BUT we all know he didnt really win. So you might as well say that he is on a 2 fight wins streak with Jardine and Tito, since there is no way he BEAT Jon Jones. Im not sure which W is more worthless. Hamills W over Jon Jones or Bispings win over Hamill. I think Hamill is one of the guys that is stronger then his opponents and that helps him drag them down. I expect Rampage to push him around when it comes to strength and with that i predict that he will be stopping the takedowns. This will be a 3rd round KO victory for Rampage.

Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson: I like watching both guys fight and with their skill set it really is an interesting match up for those that appreciate MMA and not just "Fighting". The reason is because if you think about it, they are both extremely close in skill set. They are both good at submissions but i would give the advantage to Frank Mir. But if we talk about overall grappling such as Trips, shots, reverses, then i would give it to Roy Nelson. There is actually a grappling match between Roy and Frank on youtube. Roy for the most part wins because Frank Mir has the cardio of a FAT person at that point in time. Ironically Roy Nelson has the cardio of a slim athlete. STRIKING i would give to Frank Mir but i would say Roy has more power behind his punch. This fight could very well end up being decided by who has the best cardio. Im looking forward to it. Either Roy lands that BIG right hand, or Frank Mir makes Roy look like Nog.

Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve: Struve is always exciting to watch, so not much needs to be said.

Jorge Santiago vs. Brian Stann: Fight speaks for itself.

PRELIMINARY CARD

Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Brad Pickett vs. Miguel Torres
Renan Barao vs. Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson
Chris Cariaso vs. Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto

And look at that Preliminary card? It is one of the most impressive Prelims i have seen yet. All of the fights have the potential to be FOTN.

So all i have left to say is.....

*Drum roll*

Enjoy.
