I am by no means a Jones fan, and i am a HUGE Shogun fan, but even i wouldnt be prepared to dispute what Jones has stated here. Jones has superb Greco (hardly a secret), which is centred strongly around the clinch. This is no different from Randy Couture coming out and saying that he believes he will have an advantage in the clinch, or for example if Demian Maia proclaimed he would have an advantage in grappling.

The clinch is an area were Shogun is very strong also, but for numerous reasons (mostly covered in above posts so i see no need to reiterate) he will be at a disadvantage if the fight enters this area. It is however, just about the only part of the fight in which i believe he will be disadvantaged.

So whilst it is seemingly fashionable to hate on Jon Jones at the minute (i am not keen on his personality, or at least what i have seen of it, but essentially i judge a fighter on his fighting ability...this isnt a personality contest) i dont think this can be used as fuel for the fire.

It is more a statement of fact.

Shogun's amazing clinch sure had an advantage tonight. It really did help him pull Jones' knee into his face much better.
