its shogun don't ask me how. How does a dude who would beat forrest griffin with one hand 9 times out of 10 lose to forrest in there first fight? As great as shogun is no one can tell me that there has never been issues effecting his path to greatness. You factor in his past, with injuries etc, anything is a possibility.
Did forrest griffin look like a machine against shogun in there fight?

Like gassing is some sort of excuse anyway. A fighter, a champion shouldn't gas in the first, I don't care what he's been through. I would be much more ashamed if I was a fan of Shogun if he did gas than if he just lost.

In the Forrest fight it was obvious he gassed, because Forrest wasnt doing any real damage other than controlling the pace of the fight.
In this fight he was outclassed everywhere including the feet where he took some serious damage...And when he got taken down he ate some even nastier shots that will make anyone "gas".
He got served plain and simple.

Did he gas? Not really. He started slow for whatever reason, never found his rhythm, then got drilled with a bunch of shots that would've knocked out nearly anyone else. And he still made it to the 3rd round, most fighters would've been out cold in the 1st.

u don't think jones pushing the pace from the start and shogun working hard in the early takedown makes him gas a possibility?

Yes Jones made him gas...but I dont like the idea of making it seem like he walked in the octagon already gassed. The truth is Jones damaged him which made him tired and caused him to get dominated.

See though i think were talking about two different point, i had the fight over when jones took him down for the first time. After that shogun looked like he was done, speed everything was gone. Then u had the second takedown with the knee and kick. Then the sec round and the finish.

I think it was a combination of ring rust/gas, getting hurt early, and JJ's massive strength. Shogun definitely did not look the same after the first JJ takedown though. That being said, even if it was ring rust, recently repaired knees, or simply getting hurt early and never really recovering, I'm not sure if Shogun is able to beat JJ even if he was 100%.
I can't wait for someone to smash JJ and bring him some humility the hard way. I was never a fan of JJ's personality but at the same time I never disliked him either. His talent made up for the douchiness factor. But after the disrespect to Shogun who's one of the classiest guys in MMA, I can honestly say I will always root against him. Regardless how I feel about his personality, I still admire his talent, and know that he had very few people that will challenge him at 205.
