Jones will dominate his class for some time. He is the new Silva of his class.

He gassed. He was bound to have ring rust after not fighting for nearly a year.
Not that him being healthy would change the outcome. He'd still get molested again.

The only reason Shogun "gassed" was because Jones beat the living SHIT out of his overrated brawling standup, in his own "superior" clinch, smashed his face inside his amazing elbow-magnet guard that was going to "easily sub jones" and took away his amazing "heart" within the first round, making him turtle up by the third.
Just like he said he would.
But oh Jones is just a delusional inexperienced kid, what does he know. He's not ready for the legend of stomps and soccer kicks, the sultan of retiree beating, and the prince of cardio.

Shogun looked like he was running on fumes by the midpoint of round one. Jones' grappling took everything out of him and left Shogun without the stamina to use the only thing that could have won him the fight - striking.

This fight reminded me of Shogun vs Machida 2. It was a reversal except Shogun took three rounds of pure punishment especially the latter two. You know what though, that should be a testament to Shogun's heart. JBJ blew through every other fighter very quickly. The underlining issue is this. What I saw was a HW vs LHW pretty much. Shogun got bullied in the clinch and on the ground. He couldn't sweep although he was threatening with submissions. Did you see that forearm choke to Shogun. He was PINNED down and absorbed multiple shots. He was stuck. By the time he got up he expended so much energy trying to get up and took quite a few hits to the head and body. I could literally see his health meter drop like in Street Fighter even though he was blocking most of em.
Sad to say it was no fluke. JBJ is the real deal, however he still needs to defend MULTIPLE TIMES.
I think Machida can do it.
You know what's crazy. Seeing Fedor enter the UFC as HW.
