My thoughts on the winners of UFC 128
Well for starts, dam how good was that event best event of the year to date more than likely best main event fight of the year to date defiantly, best fight of the year to date also very likely, dam it was good a sold 9 out of 10 at least.
Jones, that was just awesome and real statement, I had him wining that fight but dam did he do it in style, he just gets better and better, the weaknesses I though he displayed in the past been almost over aggressive on the top leading me to believe he would fall short against some top class BJJ submission experts are slowly fading after both the Bader fight and this, I think obviously its something Jackson has been working on with him and could well be ironed out of his game before the situation ever arises.
Its hard to say right now that anyone in the UFC @ LHW would stand a good chance against him, stylistically I would like to see Rampage vs Jones more than anything in the small hope that Rampage could at least display a little of his old self and and just maybe bring some new stylistic threat to test him, but I can't see it tbh I think Jones will just be to quick and athletic and end up defending his title, but still its a fight I would like to see in the off hope of an old school Rampage display that still may not be enough to beat Jones but may be a dam good entertaining fight to watch.
Fabar No real surprise in his performance he just brought what he always brings to the cage, I think it was a given that if he could perform like he can at BW then he would be worth his title shot, he show that he can and now I guess its going to be his shot, i have no doubts in fact, so all in all a good fight and another good fights coming up when he takes on Cruz.
Miller This fight was not as given as some may think, its easily to look at it before hand and pick Jim for the easy win but truth is Shalorus was always a dangerous fcuker you where always wrong to write off, fact is Jim took the win and it all looks to easy like most I suspect expected it would go down, but truth is Jim once again just shined and came through a very dangerous opponent who was more than capable of pulling of a bit of an upset in a huge fight for him that he had everything to gain, so ball on the half of Jim for taking this fight and not once even complaining about it or giving the impression that he felt he deserved someone higher ranked like at least top 10, but then I guess that just runs in Miller blood and is to be expected.
Where does he go from here, he may just maybe get the next title shot, would not be my ideal choice since ether way unlucky for him really that no matter who wins the next title fight, he has already lost to the champ, and with the division been so stacked its really hard to justify a rematch for the title just yet without going to extremes like the case of Maynard vs Edgar but some scores just have to be settled, in Millers case tho he has to prove himself harder than other to show that he deserves the chance to not only fight for the belt but to have the chance to avenge an old loss.
I would give him Evan Dunham even with Dunham coming off the loss, huge fight for both fighters imo, many may disagree but I believe Evan deserves the chance to bounce back into the mix and I also believe its another step in the right direction on the cruel and difficult path that should lay before Miller in order for him rise to what would be forged into an epic title run though a unusually challenging and dangerous division, it would be so epic the title run I would give him the chance to work his way though where if it was up to me because of the above situation that fans would be screaming to give him some mercy on the path but no there would no mercy he would have to work so dam hard to get there that there would be no question of his value to fight for the title and he would already be worth of a shout for him been entered into the HoF just for overcoming the path that was set before him on his way to a title shot, am I am actually a huge Jim Miller fan as well, dam I love the guy in fact WAR MILLER!!!!!
Marquardt I still don't care much for Marquardt, I wish he would just fade out of been relevant, am sorry but I don't ever think he will be more of an improved fighter than he is right now, and I believe he is above his rightful place in the rankings, I really hoped than Dan would be able to stop him and knock him down a few ties although I am not at all surprised with the result. Screw it his next opponents will more than likely be Bisping if not Victor or Stann, I am confident than any of those 3 will do what has to be done to this guy, I would personally give Palhares a rematch to set the division right and do what I unquestionably believe he should of done the first time, take his place in the contenders mix.
Schaub I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised, and that for the first time in the UFC I can say to Schaub "I was impressed by your performance" very nice fight in fact, still very hard to see him not getting smashed by the likes of JDS or Cain but definitely a step in the right direction for me, its not a very deep division imo not much in there to truely path the right level for him, i would of picked Mir but not for the Nelson fight, which is a more fitting fight for Mir right now I guess, Struve maybe a good option.
