Would Jon Jones survive five rounds?

I could see Lyoto Machida doing his thing for five rounds and pissing off Jon Jones in the process while, in the mean time, gassing him.

Thoughts?

Bones' reach would keep Lyoto at bay

when has machida ever gone 5 rounds while making someone frustrated? if anything, machida was frustrated in his sole 5 round fight with shogun

the better question is can anyone make it through 5 rounds vs. Jones?

Could Jones make it go past the second round and make Machida feel comfortable and then bring on the heat in the 3rd and finish him?

Thoughts?

interesting question acutally, currently i dont think he can, his cardio isnt really elite yet, he explodes way too much and wastes too much energy in the beginning

well...not really a waste when you finish fights, but he really tires himself out, he was really tired in the 2nd round of the shogun fight, in the bonnar fight he was also very tired

he still needs to learn how to pace himself, he destorys guys now but it wont be like that forever, if some1 can take him into to deep waters, in the 4th and 5th round, i think they can beat him, he will be way too tired come 4th and 5th round IMO

for now at least, he has the conditioning to last 5 rounds IMO no doubt, just doesnt know how to pace himself for a 5 round fight though...he barley knows how to pace himself for a normal 3 round fight

thats a big weakness he needs to work on

Jones would Take machida down and do what he does to everyone else, Machida also doesn't have the best cardio either.

Machida has "good" TDD but it hasn't proven to be "great".

I respectfully disagree. I thought in the Shogun fight Bones looked very much relaxed at the end of the fight as though he could easily go for another 2 rounds. Yes his cardio looked suspect against Bonnar but that was a long time ago and since cardio is something that can easily be improved on i think its unfair to judge him based on that fight.

I'd say his TDD is proven as the best at 205, so that makes it interesting. Plus we haven't seen people attempt to take Jones down. In the countdown to WEC 48, Jon Jones was taken down by Donald Cerrone and jokingly told the cameraman not to show it. I'm just saying we don't know what Jones TDD is like against the elite in the division yet either which is why the evans fight is interesting.

I think the 2 biggest question marks concerning jones are

1. How he reacts to being caught flush/rocked.

and

2. his cardio is definitely still suspect IMO.

I thought he looked pretty winded after the first round with shogun. Hell, just watch how long he took to get to his corner. Machida has the best chance of catching him flush, defending the TD and driving things into the later rounds IMO. So interesting question and fight indeed.
