I completly agree with jdun. I thinK GSPs a great fighter but in that win he did nothing but lnp. I've always thought this as well and was in the same boat as jdun I didnt wanna call perhaps the most loved fighter on this forum an lnper due to flaming.

To the guy who said BJ cant stand in there with GSP or beat Sherk, that was a somewhat ridiculous comment. BJ has already proved he can "stand in there" with GSP since he had one of the closest split decisions in UFC history with him and Sherk is just a smaller worse version of Hughes and BJs beat Hughes once and the second time he utterly dominated Hughes until he separated his rib. If Hughes cant handle BJ neither can Sherk.

In a rematch I'd probably pick Georges but its a complete toss up IMO.

St Pierre got poked in the eye first round which caused it to bleed, and got hit by a GLANCING uppercut that made his nose bleed. I think neither of these fighters deserved to lsoe and it was a good fight, but I would love to see a rematch for sure

What a stud

You guys are right, he did lnp in the final 2 rounds. I will not argue that. However, GSP is not a "lnper". He is without a doubt one of the most exciting fighters to watch. Give credit to BJ Penn, he forced GSP to resort to lnp to pull out a win. IMO, it looked like GSP was hurt (busted nose, eye poke) and was playing it safe.

The descision could have gone either way, but don't try and say GSP is a boring fighter (lnper), that is just ridiculis. Koscheck, O'brian, Hamill and Merrero, those guys are "LNPers".

Question. What the hell can you do against BJ Penn even if you manage to get him down on the ground, assuming his ribs & everything else stays in place? BJ probably has the best defence on the ground and it's going to be very hard to get anything done on the ground against him. He had GSP neutralized on the ground, GSP got him down but he got all tied up and couldn't pass to a good position or get any real damage done.

I could also point out the example of the 2nd Hughes/Penn fight. Matt is one of the more dominant ground & pound guys and look what happened to him before BJ popped his own rib. Hughes got tied up on the ground and almost got submitted.

You just ain't gonna look good on the ground against BJ Penn, simple as that.

I just meant in that particular fight he was a lnper not in general. I agree he is one of the best and most exciting fighters in mma.

Exactly, Penn is so damn good that GSP could'nt do anything on the ground to inflict damage. Like I said before give props to Penn.

I bet 50$ on Penn that night and remember cursing the judges after they read the descision.

If Penn is so damn good then how come he couldn't bring the fight back to its feet?

he gassed as usual!

How many fights ya seen Penn lose the 1st round?!

Penn needs to work on his cardio, if he had any cardio he would be the WW champ right now

Please stop. Im tired of people critisizing BJs cardio all the time. Yes, BJ did gas in that fight but that doesnt change the fact that GSP didnt do anything to him the whole fight.

And since you said he gassed as usual I want you to name another fight in which BJ gassed. And dont even say the second Hughes fight because he separated his rib and no one would be able to breath properly with a separated rib.
