Sorry guys but GSP over BJ was a lay and pray victory!
I have always thought that GSP layed and prayed his way to a win over BJ, I just never felt like saying it. GSP was getting picked apart on his feet and the only thing he could rely on was his wrestling. He was doing no damage to BJ while he was on top and pretty much just layed on him. I am not saying he didnt win the fight. Because by UFC rules he definatley won the fight. But you guys always give fighters crap about lay and pray wins, and this fight is never mentioned as one and I dont know why.

And your point is? It was an exciting fight and nobody really won or lost that fight, it was very even. I'd love to see a rematch.

Well, it was an exciting first round. The 2nd & 3rd? Not so much.

i think the reason "lay and pray" was never brought up in this fight is because people use the term to vilify fighters they dont like, and most people like GSP. the second and third rounds definitely fit the lay and pray term. but hey, based on ufc rules, that equals a win. i was more surprised that bj didnt do much from the bottom in that fight...

Whoa, jdun11, you are awesome and all, but please leave Royce vs Kimo out of this. I do, however, agree 100% about GSP vs Penn being extremely overrated. It was not a good fight, people.
I love MMA and i've never really seen a boring fight.
Really? Because, there are several boring fights out there. Either you are lucky, or you are smart. Stay far, far away from Ken vs Royce 2, Severn vs Shamrock 2, and Goes vs Vernon White(Yea, yea, it was in Pride, but still).

You're obviously a BJ Penn fan and you feel the need to make excuses for his loss. Really it's pointless because no gives a flying f***k. The fights over GSP won and you look foolish for whining about a result you cant change.
Now if you want to talk about something worthwhile like what will happen in a rematch then I'm game.
GSP will win in a rematch with BJ Penn...it will be quick and decisive and that's just the way it is.

I'm not a noob, i've seen those fights. I actually didn't mind Ken vs. Royce much, it was very interesting actually. Shamrock vs. Severn 2 was very boring yes, it was like some kind of African dance or something. And I don't care much for Vernon White, most of his fights aren't very good.
