Dan is a complete different fighter than Andy, MMA math doesn't really work here and one of the worst matchups for Paul Harris as well. Has Dan ever been submited in his career actually?

wich fights are you reffering too?
Ahh, I misunderstood the thread. I thought it was about "can any great fighter beat this guy," not Anderson specifically. (And yes, Dan's been submitted: Frank Shamrock kneebarring him jumps to mind; plus Nog slapping two arm bars on him and Andy rear naked choking him.)

As for Anderson vs. Palhares, I think Palhares could definitely win but I'd give the decisive edge to Anderson. Palhares' height and reach would give him fits against Anderson's range and Silva hits hard. Get tagged a few times by him and you're not in your right mind.

so you're saying Anderson couldn't defeat a one-dimensional submission artist with weak wrestling and standup?

You're totally right, Maia and Leites certainly taught us that much.

Hendo has been submitted three times; via arm bar twice, one each to each Big and Little Nog...and via RNC to Anderson.

Frank Shamrock beat Dan Henderson via kneebar? When was that?

Well Anderson's wrestling is certainly a weak point, and whilst Palhares is no Chael Sonnen i certainly believe he is explosive, powerful and a talented enough wrestler to get Anderson to the ground. I dont honestly seeing him doing it though, Anderson is so quick and long on the feet i doubt Rousimar would be able to get anywhere near him, plus his standup is incredibly rudimentary and robotic as well as being hampered by his little t-rex arms. I see Anderson dancing around him before finishing him with strikes early(ish) in the fight.

Anderson is beatable, but i dont think Palhares would be the man to do it unfortunately. I certainly believe he would get the best of Nate in a rematch however and a potential matchup with Maia would be incredibly interesting.

On a side note, people have already mentioned that Palhares has a weak mental game. I dont disagree, but what makes you say this? One member cited that he caved mentally when he didnt get the sub immediately on Branch, but he continued to try for it and eventually did lock it in...

The guy the beat Anderson is GSP. I thought everyone knew about this already, GSP is going to be a machine walking in that fight, trianing with Roach to crisp up his striking and hes already got one of the best ground games in MMA.

Anderson could defeat Paul Harris its quite obvious as could Paul Harris defeat Silva , its the same in every match. The question is really like for most BJJ guys can they get it to ground ? and IMO i think he will struggle to do so because of the long range of Silva and his great accuracy , also he has failed to submit guys while he has been on the ground so even if he gets it to the mat will he be able to just get the submission ?

to many variables for me to see him winning.

Velasquez will be back
