Eduardo Alonso: "We hope to have Shogun back around august"

Quote:
"We are already talking to the UFC about his next fight. They are really very supportive of us and after the bout, Dana came into the locker room to show support and said he felt rhythm was important for Shogun, so whenever I was ready, I should call him cause they wanted him to fight soon again. I agree with him, and we hope to have Shogun back around August. A lot of people sent me messages asking if Shogun got hurt, but thankfully Mauricio didn't get hurt at all. After the fight, I took him to the hospital for exams and all was fine. He just had some swelling around his eyes and nothing else. He is training lightly again already."

Let Forrest beat him up again to shut the people up who say it was fluke.

Vs Griffin 2 or vs Rampage 2, if he wins, vs Machida 3 for #1 contender.

Forrest is 2-1 (2-0 Vs LHW Ortiz, Griffin) since losing the belt, only loss against Silva. 2 fight winning streak, no opponent named.

Rampage is 3-1 since losing the belt (W-Silva, Jardine, Machida, L - Evans)

Will most likely be #1 contender still after Hamil fight.

Machida is 0-1 since losing the belt, Could be ready to go by August to face Shogun, but I think the least deserving.

Also what would Brazilians rather see in Rio, Brazil Vs Brazil or Brazil Vs Usa.

I know I always hate seeing Canadian's fight each other in the Ufc cause there are so few of them in each division.

Better option for Shogun is Franklin maybe? Both coming off losses. Then, maybe at the end of the year or early 2012, the conclusion to the greatest LHW trifecta since Liddell vs Couture!!!

(Edit: possibly the only noteworthy trifeca other than Couture vs Liddell!)

Am I the only one who has totally gotten over their love of Shogun? Seriously if the guy can't come into at least half of his fights in shape it's impossible to cheer for him.

I don't care if he comes back and looks great again. He'll just get another injury and look like garbage. Shogun vs. Liddell used to be my favorite fight ever but I can't even watch it any more. Knowing that that Shogun only shows up 50% of the time is too much to bear.

Can't hate on Shogun for getting injured. It's simply the way things happen. Is it frustrating...sure it is! I believe injuries robbed Bo Jackson from being an even bigger super star than he already was along with Sam Bowie who was the 1st round draft pick before Hakeem, and Jordan. Injuries plagued Larry Johnson (Grand Mama) and Grant Hill all of his career and so on and so forth.

I'm just glad that Shogun was able to win the Pride and UFC championship. Sometimes luck does play a factor in an athletes' career. If you look at Jordan he had an injury free career pretty much and that led to his longevity of the sport.

Look at Frank Mir. He was a perfect example.

Shogun will be back stronger than ever!
