Good to see that someone who actually knows the game becomes a judge. Hopefully more will follow.

I liked him as a fighter but his face used to annoy me. Not sure why. Good thing getting fighters involved in judging though!

Maybe now an active guard will now have one of three judges scoring in 10/9 favor over a wrestler who has someone on their back but doesn't know what to do with them...

Awesome news. Judges who actually did compete in MMA are what we need. And Almeida was competing in the biggest company out there, only a plus.

I honestly don't think that retired fighters as judges is even going to begin to solve the judging dilemma. Fighters are perhaps even more likely to be non impartial as far as styles go. Do you believe for a second Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia and Paul Daley would score a fight even remotely the same?

I think there's a lot of truth to this.

I think Maia would score it very realistically because he's an intelligent, fair person. I think Rutten would be a great judge as well. But crazies who happened to be ex-fighters would definitely not make good judges.
