Will Jake Shields be Champion in 2 different weights after just 3 UFC fights?

Nobody will have to put up 2 belts in one fight, and its not that far fetched, if he beats GSP he will be half way there, and everyone knows that if he does he wants the super fight with Silva that all talk about with GSP, and if he beats GSP not only will he take his belt he could take his chance to move up and fight Silva, and since he was MW champion at SF, its not like he does not have the caliber to move up and compete for the belt there also.

That is crazy :)...NO! He won't!

1. He won't beat GSP

2. UFC's MW division >>>>> SF's MW division

I'm not convinced Shields would have remained SF's MW champion if he stayed there.
Jacare was coming for the belt. Such a shame they didn't get to fight.

And i think Shields should move to MW. He has more power and energy at MW.

GSP wouldn't just disappear if he lost. Most likely would be instant rematch as UFC loves to do, or GSP would go demolish someone and then get a rematch by January 1st. I am not sure how they can hype superfight with a guy who has only 2 UFC fights (Shields). Hardly anyone has heard of him. GSP v Silva is a superfight because they are household names who have been fighting in the UFC for the past 5 or 6 years, which is how long the majority of people have been watching the UFC, i.e. since the beginning, for most people.

Well he has a unique opportunity here, and if he beats GSP that could well give him enough steam in the UFC to get him the fight he wants with Silva, remember how quickly people shrugged off the Shogun/Silva fight after his loss to Jones then it all turned very quickly to Silva/Jones, same could happen here only difference been Shield wants the Silva fight more than Silva wants the Jones fight.

This idea is predicated on the basis that he will beat GSP. Which he won't. He's too one dimensional. GSP is the most well rounded fighter in the game. You know what Shields gameplan is every time he steps into the cage. Go for the takedown, tire you out, and submit you.

Problem is he won't be able to get the takedown against GSP. The only time GSP has spent on his back is against Kos who has an extremely explosive and hard to stop double leg. Shields takedowns have been stuffed by Paul Daley. Even if he gets GSP down I don't believe he will be able to hold him down or inflict any significant damage.

This fight will go like any fight where you have two excellent grapplers. It will be a standing fight and GSP will win that easily because Shield's stand up is absolute garbage. Not Ben Askren level bad but what is?

He definitely could. If he shows us he has what it takes to beat GSP, I'm not sure Anderson would even accept a fight with him though.

Sure the likely situation is GSP beats him standing for most of the rounds, Jake maybe getting a take-down and stealing a round or two and GSP taking home the decision. But if he ends up doing to GSP what he did to Henderson... then in my mind he'd beat Silva 9/10 times and I'm sure that fight would be there for him.

When has Anderson Silva not accepted a fight.. only time I can think of is when it was for LHW championship because of a conflict of interest with Machida.

GSP has talked about beating Anderson Silva for years now since 2008, holding two belts, blah blah. He's been offered the chance to fight since 2008 in a public press conference "GSP will fight Anderson Silva next." When can GSP fight Anderson Silva? "Whenever he wants."

Given by the last 3 years, i would imagine GSP has been asked if he's ready to move up to MW a few times to fight Anderson Silva by Dana White..

After Sonnen fight..

St-Pierre acknowledges the fact that it will act as a blot on his career if he never moves up to fight middleweight king Silva, and he revealed a move to 185lbs could happen in the not-too-distant future.

"I plan to do it at one point in my career." GSP told Ultimate Insider "I want to make sure I've done everything I had to do in my division before I go up, because once I go up, I might for a little bit hold two titles at the same time, but as soon I'm going to go up and take care of business when I'm up, I'm going to let go of my other title."

“I want to be like Michael Jordan and basketball, Muhammad Ali in boxing. The way Tiger Woods was to golf. I want to be the guy .”
