Lesnar has better chance against JDS than against Cain

While I still like JDS' chances to beat up Brock on his feel, I think that Brock has a better chance against JDS than he did against his lopsided a**kicking by Cain Velasquez.

My reasoning is this:
1. As a top HW collegiate wrestler, Cain's double leg takedown defense, and TDD in general, is as good as it gets in the HW division. When Lesnar did take him down, Cain got right back up. How many guys are good enough to get back up with Brock on them? Maybe one - CV.

2. JDS' is a longer, leaner guy who's TDD isn't as good as Cains...Brock has better chance of taking him down and keeping him on the ground. Again, JDS won't get up as easily as Cain did if he gets taken down.

3. JDS likes high kicks and knees more than Cain, who pretty much relies on solid boxing and low kicks, and never really left himself open alot of takedowns with high kicks/knees.

JDS has to throw down to get Brock into his "duck and cover" mode. If he does it'll look like the CV fight, but I think Brock's got a better chance at beating JDS than he ever will against CV.

I think he is going to beat JDS. he will take him down and gas him in the first and then in the second he will finish.

I see Lesnar taking JDS down and it all depends on how good JDS is working off his back, if he can get back up like Cain did, then he has a shot. Anways, I see Brock taking this.

Brock WILL get a takedown in any fight, the question is whether that fighter can get back up.

I think most people would agree with you about Brock having a better chance against JDS since we know that both Cain and JDS have much better striking than Lesnar but we don't know how JDS' wrestling is compared to Cains and Lesnars.

Only thing I'm not sure of is this

I didn't think either guy threw a lot of high kicks. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't recall seeing them from Junior much but I know Cain used one against Lesnar.

I agree with the OP 100%. Lesnar just has to hit him with the epic GnP and he's got it in the bag. I doubt that JDS has enough badass BJJ, enough to catch Brock anymore.

Brock's game has been severaly exposed. JDS will work extremely hard on his TDD and getting back up. Brock will get beaten on his feet again... badly.

UFC and CO know this. Thats why they are milking his publicity before he gets his ass kicked again.

RIP Jordan Corder. Watch over me from above brother.

You don't learn getting up from your back in a year, you can train as hard as you want for that year but it still wont happen. Cain has been training wrestling practically his whole life, not to mention he has a speed advantage over both fighters.

I've just rewatched the Dos Santos - Nelson fight and Dos Santos didn't throw a single high kick and only one or two low kicks while Nelson was like the perfect opponent to mix things up and throw punch-low kick combos. Dos Santos probably could easily had a TKO had he thrown a couple of low kicks.

Against Lesner though I agree with most people here. It probably will be a hard time for Dos Santos to avoid that take down from Lesner who's not going to stand like Nelson. I guess it's going quite to depend whether Dos Santos can land a clean shot right into the face of Lesnar to make afraid of engaging.

Just because a wrestler is a wrestler doesn't mean they have good take down defense in MMA. Chael gets taken down basically anytime someone tries. Cheick Kongo took Cain down once or twice. Carwin got tossed by Gonzaga like it was nothing.

JDS has the best TDD at HW and he'll prove it. I expect Lesnar to shoot in, fail on the double-leg, push JDS against the cage and hold him there trying to throw knees. After a minute or two JDS will land a hard shot and shuck Lesnar off him, and JDS will dominate for the rest of the round.

Round two I think Cigano will knock him out a lot like he did Gonzaga. A big shot that drops and turtles him, then standing ground and pound to knock him out clean.

edit: JDS did throw a high kick against Nelson in the third. He used the same kick Silva did to knock out Belfort and landed right on Nelson's face. And people that think Nelson tried to stand and bang... Nelson attempted SEVEN take-down attempts.
