But how come brock lesnar gets his rematch with the champion after just 1 fight?
I wouldn't say that a former champion has to prove him self in a few fights. Especially when the new champion is hurt and especially in the HW division.
Going back a ways to when Randy Couture took the belt from Tim Sylvia and then had contract disputes, Tim had one fight and then a fight for the interim belt. Then when Frank Mir lost his interim belt to Lesnar in a unification fight he only had one fight before getting another interim championship fight against Shane Carwin. Yes those were interim belts but if the champs had not came back then they would of been made the regular champions like won Andrei won the interim title but Mir couldn't defend his regular title.
Or just look at Randy and how many title shots he had.
he won the title,
left the UFC,
lost 2 straight outside the UFC,
won 2 fights outside the UFC,
came back and won the title,
won and lost 1 fight outside the UFC,
defended the title twice against Pedro Rizzo,
lost the title to Barnett (Barnett gets stipped of title for failing drug test),
loses interim title fight,
moves to LHW and gets a instant interim title fight which he wins,
wins the LHW unified belt,
loses the belt,
wins the belt,
loses the belt,
wins a fight,
gets title shot and loses,
comes back to HW division and gets instant title fight and wins title,
