* For the record, Bisping has already beaten one of these guys, and he would beat the other.

The former true, the latter laughably untrue.

I can see Yoshihiro Akiyama unemployed after this fight.

...I'm a legend fan for Vitor but no way am I counting out Akiyama. He has a proven iron chin with legit KO power. His fight with Leben (even though he lost) proved a lot. He ate multiple Leben left hooks that have flatlined many fighters. I want Vitor to win badly but Akiyama will be a huge test. Vitor would need one of his classic flurries to hurt or finish Yoshihiro. This fight has explosive written all over it. Great match-up...

<<<<<<hehe Whoever mentioned throwing a frontkick at Vitor...lol!

I'd still give Akiyama a chance, but if he loses he's gone.

I was hoping Akiyama would drop to 170 or 155.

Guess the UFC is feeding him to the sharks.

Time to train front kick with Steven Seagal and work that judo!

Damn. Unlucky for Vitor as well he really wanted to fight at UFC Rio. He said it was his dream.

Either way, Vitor by KO.

Is Vitor really as good as everyone is making out?

With the utmost respect for Vitor i think the only legit top level fighter he has beaten in the past 5 years is Franklin, after beating Couture at UFC 46 (Jan-2004) he went 2-5 and then dropped to Cage Rage where he found some decent form again.

I do rate Vitor as a fighter but think his title shot was definitely earned easily and he proved he was not ready for Anderson Silva, I'm not saying i expect Akiyama to win this fight - but i expect it to be very close, and possibly more winnable for Akiyama than his last 3.

I agree! It's not even such a bad matchup for Akiyama.. but if he again chooses to stand and bang, then he should go down or lose a decision.

Is it just me or does anyone else see Vitor being alot bigger than Akiyama? I mean Vitor used to fight as a HW right, and Akiyama is best suited for 170.

I don't understand why everyone is saying 'the ufc hates akiyma' or stuff like that. He's fought Belcher, Bisping and Leben - sure their tough guys, but none of them are top 5 guys or anything, everyone talks as if he's fought A.Silva, Marquardt, Okami and Maia or something.

However, Belfort is the toughest of the lot, and a really bad style match up for him. I fear he'll have lost 3 on the trot after this one.
