Interesting match up, can't say that I am honestly over impressed by the match making here, but can only hope some good comes out of it and that Belfort kicks Akiyama's useless ass right out of the UFC n past even Strikeforce and into retirement.

I was kind of hoping Bisping would get the Belfort fight, but I guess now that Nate is moving to WW and with Okami fighting for the title that can leave only one, what do you want to bet that Sonnon vs Bisping are already signed up for the next coaching spots on TUF, they just wont announce it till after the current season.

The UFC must really reward guys who "go all out"

Because if not, this match makes no sense at all, the guy that just fought for the title is fighting a guy on a two fight losing streak.

Belfort by KO.

I honestly think Akiyama deserves this fight!

Dana always says, win or lose.. as long as you put on a great show for the Fans and if you go out there and take risks you get rewarded for it.

Akiyama does just that and Dana is probably using him as the best example to this claim

Akiyama will get KOed by the 1st round and sadly will have to pack up his bag or prolly go to SF. I was about to say Dream, but right now the scene in Japan is in a re-construction phase.

There have been some great fights involving Akiyama in the UFC but imo he has done very little in any of them and its been his opponents that have put on the great shows, turns out when you get a guys who just looks to not really give a fcuk fighting a guy who wants to win, the guy who wants it can really put on a great show, thats been the story of most Akiyama fights he has just been lucky that his opponents have put on a good show.

He has no place in the UFC and after Victor packs his bags for him I personally will not miss him.

Oh not at all!

You can only look good if your opponent takes chances which Akyiama always does and what Dana wants to see from his fighters. Akiyama puts it on the line at least. He tries the finish, even if he get's Knocked out by doing so.

Akiyama beat Belcher, hurt Bisping and was in an even battle with Leben until he gassed out. Don't see why you only want to appreciate one single side here, if it's not at all like that.

Also, they won't cut him after another FOTN performance against Vitor either.

This match up should make for an exciting fight. I think they'll both be game to stand up and will have a few exchanges before Belfort knocks Akiyama out.
